Twiggy Santana Twiggy this an original composition from Venezuela. It was made popular in Trinidad by La Divina Pastora.
-Se va el caiman is a song from Colombia- introduced by Gloria Alcazar and by Claire Piper (Carib Santa Rosa Serenaders)
      - Yo Busco Inspiracion- Tania de Venezuela
-Ola de La Mar - Tania de Venezuela - may have even been redone by her
-Si Yo Pudiera - song recorded by Tania de Venezuela
I DON’T THINK FLORES DE SAN JOSE EVER ACKNOWLEDGED THIS OR TOLD T&T THIS! Sadly trinis think these songs are all of Trini origin.
      - Rio Manzanares is also from Cumaná, Venezuela - Manzanares River
      - Vuela Guanaguanare is by Nancy Ramos of Venezuela
      - Ansiesad sung by Daisy is another classical Venezuelan piece
-Si La Vida Fuera is also from our South American neighbours
      - Sombra en los Médanos is also a classical Venezuelan piece.
Many of the songs sung by San José Serenaders were introduced by Gloria Alcazar who was from Maracaibo. The parranda songs we know in Trini are generally from the Sucré state in Venezuela.
With google and TH-cam, we trinis could do a little research and see de copycats we are!

@@dannorth9032 I think it's also worth acknowledging that some Trinidadians who were involved in the parang scene have forefathers with Venezuelan origins (including Daisy Voisin) that came to our country many decades ago.
But you're right I don't think many Trinis realise that parang is also part of wider Venezuelan culture. Rio Manzanare is a very obvious example.

Isaiah well I can tell you we love to call people ‘Spanish’ which is used for anyone of Latin heritage. I had a Venezuelan lecturer who hated to be called Spanish because she wasn’t from Spain.
I think the average Trini genuinely believes parranda originated in Trinidad.
