I know a lot of students on the NC Mountains prefer Subaru vehicles like the Forester & Outback. It's certainly something to look into, the Forester is made in Japan but these vehicles do come with a CVT Transmission and that is a known failure point on Subaru vehicles. But they are super safe in terms of crash tests, they are usually IHS top safety picks and they truly have one of the best AWD systems.
No care is perfect as you've found out with Toyota but if you're willing to chance it with the transmission, Subaru can be a great choice. I would say an AWD vehicle is a must living in snowy mountain area and some high quality tires like Continental, your daughter should feel confident with a setup like that.

I wish they would just make this a targa top. Or something I know not a comfortable because you will lose space. At least a targa top

So current pricing for the GTS has not been revealed but a 2024 GT is going to start about $40k less than a new 2024 DB12. So you're getting a substantial savings with the McLaren and perhaps more practicality and mid engine driving dynamics. Both have TT V8s, in this case, I'd probably choose the McLaren

I've noticed with a lot of exotic vehicles the company and even the consumers don't really care about the latest and greatest inside the car
My biggest gripe with McLaren is the fact that their vehicles are not made for people with wider frames ; no I'm not talking about fat people, just regular folks who can't fit into the seat in a McLaren. 😠
I do agree the seats in the 570 were pretty tight but hopefully due to the mission of this car, they made the seats a little more broader and forgiving

I think it's more C8ish from the side.
In a world were a C8 corvette Z06 exists, this car just like so many others, doesn't make sense.
Problem with the corvette is it’s still a Chevy lacks the prestige and dealer experience. When it inevitably causes you issues and take it in for service, the Chevy dealer is going to treat you like you’re sub human and give you a sonic as a courtesy car.
If you really think that a mclaren doesn't make sense it's not the right car for you. 😉
