Here in Indonesia, we have cubes of yellow tofu but the insides is still white tho. It's usually sold on motorcycles and shops, you can still find it on supermarket tho but I think the ones sold on motorcycles has more of an authentic taste. It tastes best when you just simply fry it or make an "tahu isi" which is bahasa for stuffed tofu by cutting the tofu in triangles and stuff the inside with seasoned mix of carrot and bean sprouts, dip it into a thick flour-water batter and then deep fry it until it's a little bit golden brown.

In Hawai'i we buy a lot of stuff from the store, cold in water in a plastic tub, or packaged in a square box from Long's Drugs. It looks like the same difference between "Mozzarella" you find in blocks and fresh mozzarella in a lumpy water-filled package.

I fry it in unrefined virgin coconut oil. I fry rice in the left over oil. I can do 23 pull-ups and my friend lost weight eating double portions but he added pineapple and sriracha to it. I think it is great for people who want to stay fit. Definitely plant based protein.

With those blocks specifically, we'd fry them up in slices like you do, but also would add tomatoes, cilantro, and onion back into the pan with a splash of fish sauce. Makes for a great stir fry that goes well with rice!

I never ate frozen or supermarket tofus except those silky ones. I always ate freshly made tofu from the market, and I really like how when I just bought it, it felt really warm and all pillowy between my hands.
Coupled that with the warmth of a freshly made Tempeh, it felt like a nice feeling touching it with your own hands. Small things like these made me love going to the traditional market instead of the supermarket.

You should try season the tofu with garlic!
First crush the garlic until it become a paste then add salt, after that you add half cup of water, mix well. Dip the tofu into garlic water and then fry, it's so simple yet delicious 😋

    4. Fry them to ur liking
    5. Dip then in indonesian sambal
    6. Eat with rice
    7. Enjoy

I need this now!! Even if I get extra firm, when I’m trying to pat it dry, no matter how gentle I am, it always breaks apart into pieces and still there was too much water left and that makes it impossible To make a good piece with a crispy skin and not a mouthful of tofu water. Can’t use the fryer then cause cold no water and hot ass oil don’t mix and will give u terrible burns from exploding. So yea I need this I

Grew up eating tofu pretty much my whole life. We use to get like those huge buckets of tofu from the Korean store. It was blocks of tofu submerged in water basically. They look like those 5 gallon buckets of ice cream.
Now I buy the smaller tofu packages at H mart. The Vietnamese tofu is pretty great though.
