A Day in My Life: As a Mandarin Student in China

- This is a day in my life while I'm taking Mandarin lessons in the beautiful city of Yangshou in Guangxi Province. Although I've lived in China for a few years, my Chinese level is pretty LOW, I'm a real beginner---and that's because I've never had formal lessons before. So, here I am, truly challenging myself by taking a week of intense Mandarin lessons.
Before arriving in Yangshuo, I took online Mandarin lessons with Omeida Language Academy. We mainly practiced pronunciation and tones, then when I arrives a few weeks later we got straight to 2 hour-long classes. The class size is quite small, and it's just me and my partner. We learn a lot of new words and grammar structures in each class and I'm so happy that I pushed myself to take these classes.

@@matpk It's so hard for a normal foreigner to get Chinese citizenship cause China is not an immigration country,
they don't support immigration, but a green card is possible.

I live in the USA in Ontario, California and the USA has plenty of Mandarin speakers just not as many as in China. So I'll learn Mandarin in my home country the USA, but I might visit China sometime in the future.

Your videos always make me want to pack up and move to China! I'm currently applying for schools abroad, but nervous about the new policies in place there. Plus, your Insta posts of how you hate it SOMETIMES. I may take a chance anyway and see what happens!
Living abroad is filled with both love and hate! No country is perfect, and Covid precautions make life harder for us all! Overall, I really have grown and learned so much about myself while living here and that's probably the biggest gift of them all.

Don’t worry about your Chinese when you live in China as long as you use google translation you will be ok.

Baidu translate is much more reliable than Google translate. But I prefer to learn the language than rely on my translator app 100%
