Those calling for him to go before the tournament are delusional. There are many more teams who have tried that strategy and failed, than it succeed.

The sad thing is that after Southgate, if they failed to convince Mourinho, the next manager might as well be Graham Potter. You know, a guy who is so broken after weekly abuse by Chelsea fans now has to manage the nation with even more pressure by both their fans and media.
Irish guy. I think you are missing the point. Most Southgate out fans would point to the fact that since Southgate took charge in 2016. England have beaten teams in the top 10 only 6 times in 27 matches. That’s not good enough if you want to compete with (media tells us this expectation and secretly, so do rival fans) and win major tournaments. Losing to Brazil just reminded them that while the team has great players on paper they rarely come together to beat a top team (it’s a thing they share with the ‘Golden Generation’). I personally think it’s counterproductive to be negative right now. It won’t get him out and at worst it would disrupt the England camp.

I would be worried that Slabhead even gets called up these days, when he should have been banished to the wilderness alongside Kalvin Phillips (flop) and Henderson (crocked old man who acknowledged that fact when he went to the Saudi retirement league). I would wonder why TAA isnt being played as a RWB ahead of Southgate's favored 3 man back line, a position he seems tailor made for, especially considering that on occasion, he can be a defensive liability. And lets not forget the racism from the fans and media. Sterling is still the media whipping boy and the amount of racial abuse he STILL gets online and at matches is just disgusting. And lets not forget that the Racist White People also throw regular and vocal abuse at Saka and Rashford. Is Southgate a good manager? No. Would he be able to get a PL job without having been England boss? No. Not since relegating Boro years ago. Should he have been sacked? Meh. Maybe after relegating England in the Nations League (Which I laughed myself silly about!😂😅) Are there any realistically any better options a available? No. I do not see Eddie Howe choosing to leave Newcastle and if he gets sacked he will be a hot commodity who would not think of lowering himself to international football. And the other actually half decent English boss, Sean Dyche, is still happily employed on Merseyside. Even if they get relegated, he only leaves if he gets sacked. He is going to have a point to make to the Prem and the doubters. He would want to come back up and finish top half like he did with Burnley to shut everyone up. Ditto if he survives. And if he is sacked, I could honestly see the likes of Forest or Wolves jumping on him as a long term option. Every other English manager in the game right now would be a downgrade on Southgate. We saw that Graham Potter's brain gets fried if he has a job with any expectation bigger then "Dont get Relegated!" He doesnt know how to deal with the locker room egos. Hiring him for the England job would produce a bigger car crash then Hodgson or McClaren that I would absolutely LAUGH MYSELF INTO AN EARLY GRAVE AT 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣!! Rob Edwards could be something special OR he could just be Graham Potter the Redux. Gary O'Neil isnt as bad as Michael ⬆️⬆️ makes him out to be but he has the same level as Potter. You could always bring in the likes of Steve Bruce or Dean Smith. Or how about former players? Fat Frank? Hasn't been seen in club foootball since making a Meme out of Chelsea after Potter's Sacking and nearly relegating Everton before that. Slippy G? A self acknowledged flop who can only cut it in a garbage retirement league funded by blood soaked, sports washed cash after failing at Villa and flushing any chance at Anfield down the nearest sewer. Wayne the Ogre? He's been sacked from his last 3 jobs, been relegated at one and might be the reason Birmingham go down, a la Gianfranco Zola. The only club who would call him are ManBanter ToxNited, because multi sacked and relegated managers are their specialty if you were a legendary player with them. You could drag Roy Hodgson out of retirement or Steve McClaren out of ManBanter ToxNited. My point here is that the only two English managers today who would be upgrades on Southgate have bigger fish to fry and higher profiles then the England Job. Even overpaying by at least £10 million a year wouldnt be enough to get them in the door and every other English manager out there today would be a downgrade on a Southgate who is a meh tactician but loved by the players. And if the FA even considered hiring a Non-English manager, let alone actually doing it, here would be the response of the fanbase and the media. Who do you think we are? The Belgians? The Colonials? Poppycock!"
The only reason I am Southgate out is due to his tactical acumen. He has done a lot for the game as a whole. And he has built a better culture within the camp that makes players want to play for the national team (bar whatever the story is with Ben White) but I just think based on the quality of players we have, only France are probably better. And that's it. So we should be getting to finals. And at some point, we need to win one, because it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.
Going after the coach is low hanging fruit. Surprised they didnt blame Southgate for Kanes missed pen vs France. To say they have no chance of winning the Euros with him while they could have beaten France in the quarters is just mad to me.

I completely I agree. I don’t get why people get carried away with friendlies. If we won 5-0 everybody would be saying it’s coming home. I never have been Southgate in but maybe players just don’t care about friendlies and want to focus on not getting injured to play actual matches

Say it with me in the most Posh, snobbiest accent you can manage with your nose pointing straight towards Heaven. "Hiring a non-English Manager to coach our Glorious National Team? Ha! Preposterous! Who do you think we are? The Belgians? The Colonials? Poppycock!"
You make some decent points, Irish Guy.

It’s not even close really I mean look at the bench in 2002/2006 compared to now. Then look at the weaknesses of virtually every other European nation bar france and yes we should be winning this euros. That’s without even mentioning most of us wanted Southgate gone after the World Cup In Qatar and the fa kept him on despite having failed 3 times at major tournaments.
That game against Italy at the last euros was a managerial schooling by Mancini, we were lucky it even went to penalties because we got battered in our own ground for 3 halves by Italy. Why? Because of Southgates inability to change a game, had 5 subs available and didn’t make a change until the 85th minute after getting battered for 40 straight mins at Wembley. The chiefs at the fa should resign if we don’t win, how can they be trusted to appoint the next manager?
Another thing I can’t get my head around is the stubbornness of some English people that the national team coach must be English, it’s like half the country doesn’t realise the only English manager since Redknapp in 08 to win a major trophy is gerrard in the SPFL, that’s 16 years people. English managers simply aren’t up to par with their European counterparts. Brazil want ancelotti, he’s not Brazilian but they don’t care because they only care about winning. Weigman isn’t English and she won England the woman’s euros, whilst she’s not the answer surely we need to be looking at top foreign coaches ie tuchel for the England job. Not washed up managers 20 past it like sven and capello were when they managed England
Just waiting for his rice being captain rant
