Gabe is a fan of yogs dotes for sure. Adding even more infinite scaling, adding fishing to Dota, Making Ogre a strength hero, dropping a big patch when Daf leaves to spite him, and now the ep. 100 lineup. 15:40 is GLORIOUS LOL The edit
I must say, I greatly enjoyed Venomancer lore time, and I feel that each episode should have a lore time segment about one of the heroes in the game, at an appropriately dramatic opportunity.
The reason for the Boots of Bearing on Gyro is that when patch launched, the timeout for the bonus move speed from rocket barrage was longer than the cooldown, meaning it could theoretically stack infinitely. Boot of bearing then removes the speed cap...
I don't even play Dota and this update seems pretty interesting and funny, this Fisto Lion's PoV should be used as a highlight reel advertising this patch, it's fucking incredible.
Lion Fisto is GLORIOUS. I'm also now going to need a Majima eyepatch for Earthshaker with that Slugger ability Edit: We now need a team of all heroes with punches. Marci, Tusk, Lion, Dark Seer, and more I'm certainly forgetting
octarine ahgs lion will be able to punch 100% of the time. for khanda, if you have finger, khanda procs first when you finger, so you don't get the fist damage on the finger, but if you have ahgs and octarine and still have the fist buff then you will have the fist damage for that next finger
Great and enthusiastic start to the video pyrion! Stellar showmanship! 30:55 Just a casual escape chicken actually working 😂 Definitely one of the least satisfying endings of a game 😢
Basically yes. Every hero now gets one innate passive. The Facet (2 or more options) can do a lot of things - change how an ability works, change the ability itself, an additional passive effect (eg. Undying respawns instantly once every 480 seconds), have generally weird behavior (Doom can sell items for 90% gold instead of 50%, Gyrocopter can disassemble any item)
I hate to say it but this really makes me feel like now is the time to dust off dotes after all these years. Get back in while everyone else is totally overwhelmed too! 😅
Remember the original model was a hydralisk, which kinda spit green stuff, in their original SC/BW animation and look a bit like a snake-ish thing. Said it once, say it again, Blizzard during WCIII/TFT was peak model design. It's not just the character either, it's the way they move and look at a glance. Massively well done to tell what was what just by their outline and animation. I know I am not the only one who has found some models end up blending in Dota 2, especially with skins. Just look at PL and Legion in this game. In my opinion way too similar and shows just how elite Blizzard really was at that time, in terms of the details.
Yeah, League definitely pigeonholes some of their champions. There is a little bit of mix up every season or so because new items or changes make certain characters better at other spots, but usually, if you pick a support, you are in bottom lane with the carry. If you pick a carry, you are able to go to any lane, but usually you got bottom unless you're trying to counter a specific lane. Jungle will ALWAYS be in the jungle, but WHO can jungle is fairly rigid as the role is more about meeting certain timings and if you pick a subpar jungler you cna't become strong enough fast enough to stop the other jungler from crippling your team. It's easier to follow, but it's so rigid that people will straight up leave the game or start feeding because you took a specific hero to a lane they aren't supposed to be in.
There’s definitely roles in league that are a little fluid but the way everything scales definitely forces specific roles a lot more. It certainly feels like there’s a lot more heroes in dota that can play multiple roles than champions in league. (Then there’s the whole attitude of the player base but that’s a different story)
As someone who only plays league and only watches these dota videos (don't watch any league) The league champs are 95% one trick ponies, they have 1 combo they do or 1 thing they are good at and can only work in 1 lane. There is a little leeway early on and with jungle but pretty much there are 20-30 relevent champs that just ruin the game for everyone :)
They have far more than 1 combo, unless you don't know how to play. League champions are innately far more well rounded than Dota 2 heroes because you're expected to be able to play them at all times, not just to counter something specific. Most champions can also be played in most lanes, but people have a mental breakdown and throw the game if you dare to play anything not meta. There's also far more than just 20-30 "relevent" champions, you can climb with any champion if you're actually good at the game. :)

24:40 The "A hat" is probably the result of an "escape character". This is a character needed when using odd symbols, such as the degree symbol 'º'.

How amazing it is that a milestone episode coincides with a major update! Almost seems planned.

Lion outpunching a Legion is wild, this patch is crazy
They’ve already patched the Legion barrier, they found out quick that it’s broken lol
Venomancer is based on the Hydralisk model that was in Warcraft 3. So Venomancer is... an alien?
It's an alien bug. Joe's right, a bug is a bug as far as I'm concerned.
This patch is honestly the best in years, so much fun.
JIDI’S ACID JUNGLES, JOE
This is the most hyped up I've seen the lads for Dotes in a while! This patch must be good, I might check it out

Big update and episode 100 is amazing
Craziest thing I saw is dawnbreaker now just casually reveals the whole map during the day.
Only LoL player here, it seems like DotA got passives on all champs with an option to select between 2 abilities/modifiers? That sounds fun!

100 games without brains. HELL YEAH!
good update, cant wait to see the wacky games you cast in the future
Daf could learn from that lore presentation as match making podcasts lore master
In my head canon that lion is the protagonist of that entire match.
A new patch video on such a short notice? Lovely
new patch plus ep 100. one for the books boys
EP. 100! can't believe I've watched more dota games than I've played
The new patch is insane!!
It would be nice to listen to Joe and Pyrion talk about the patch and break it down~~
Im sure the pod this week will be the lads talking about the patch.
@j-mc2144 that would be a very long pod
Would be nice for Pyrion to guest in it for insight and such
Congratulations on 100 disasters!
This patch is hooking me back to dotes, gotta resist. Thanks for the video!
happy 100 !
I think maybe Tusk "hates this game" because he sucks ogre balls at it.
I used to clean the Benaroya family's pool
Sorry P-Flax, it's the super smash bros baseball bat sound already for me
I would love a TI match played in silence with all the voice actors performing live instead
venomancer for sure has bug like elements, but id say hes more snake than bug
Lion is the new Sven
100 more bois!!!!!
those look more like talents from heroes of the storm.
It's a good time to be a dota player

lion really had it out for shaman, just focus fired him

both tusk and gyro had the money orb and they are the lowest money earners says something
