*CHRISTOCENTRIC MEAL* *DR ABEL DAMINA* *WEDNESDAY MAY 25, 2022* *PRAYER OF FAITH (9)* *James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:* *Vs 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.* Note that it is not every prayer that is a prayer of faith. if there is a sick believer, the prayer of faith shall save the sick. Many are not honest enough to admit that they are living in unbelief. Sickness is of the Devil. Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. God anointed Jesus to undo the works of the devil. The word “faith” in the term “Prayer of faith” requires our attention. The writer of the book of Hebrews 11:6 tells us “…but without faith it is impossible to please God...” People have interpreted this as, we need to go get faith to approach God. That’s lack of contextual reading. We do not need to go look for faith to please God. “Without faith it is impossible to please God”. Who gave us the faith? God gave us faith. Hence he gave us what is required to please himself - Faith. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hence God has given us what it takes to please Him. Hebrews 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Vs 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; We have come before God. We cannot be in need of Faith to please God. Hebrews 11 in explaining faith talks about hope. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith (there) is expectation. Faith works with hope. This “expectation” is what differentiates “hope” in Hebrews 11 from a mere wish. Paul in talking about Faith, also mentions hope and love. He places the three in one group. 1st Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Hope is part of our spiritual life. God actually places hope in us; A life of expectation. In Christ we have been given an expectation. Hence, hope is part of the faith life. *Confession:* *I have faith, which is a right and privilege in Christ. I don’t require another faith to pray to God. I already have faith. I am expectant because when I ask in prayer, God gives.*
