I seen you! I couldn’t tell if it was you or not lol. This last week I’ve been and they’re definitely in the pads. White swim jig in the morning over the submerged mats right by the pads and once the sun gets up punching has been the ticket. Nothing huge but have caught a handful of 3 and 4 lbrs

Orange Lake has been good lately. I caught a 9 pounder and then came back the following week and caught one just shy of 8. There were 2 10s and a 8 caught during our championship. I originally had a solid game plan but they sprayed my spots and it changed things. Fish were still there, I just had to fish for them differently. Thanks for sharing how your trip went. I just started a bait company and I designed some new craws, so I’ll have to get out there to flip some pads and punch some mats. Thanks for the comment!

@@richardwhitefishing I fished Orange yesterday for the first time ever and caught 9 bass....nothing over 3 lbs but I did lose a giant on a chatterbait in the grass. I could tell lots of the areas I was in had been sprayed recently but was clueless on whether I should have left to find non-sprayed areas or what. How do you approach areas that have been sprayed and how in your opinion does it affect the fish? Is there a time frame after an area has been sprayed where the fish pull out of that area?

The worst thing about sprayed areas for me is the water quality. It can also change your pattern or the way you approach fishing for bass. Running Livescope I’ve noticed that the areas that were sprayed still had fish but without grass or pads it changed the pattern on how I targeted them. After an area has been sprayed most of the aquatic vegetation will be decomposing. The decomposing vegitation will usually mix with the water and make the water very dirty and murky. For our tournament, the guys who did well left there areas to find clean water. When the water is dirty you can usually pick them off with vibrating lures like a chatterbait or switching up colors to something darker. In conclusion, when fishing is tough in sprayed areas, I will usually move to find clean water.

@@richardwhitefishing I really appreciate your input on this question and the others I've sent you! I'm so new to Florida fishing and the use of chemicals....there were areas yesterday where I swear I could smell the poison which me being a health nut kinda messed with me mentally because I know how bad health wise that crap is! At one point yesterday I stuck my paddle in the water to gauge the depth I was in and it turned to chocolate milk, I've never seen that before fishing and thought to myself " screw this, I woudn't want to live here if I was a fish" and found cleaner water....I'm limited in the distance I can go cause I still use a paddle only, but the areas I found with no mud is where I found the bass. There didn't seem to be any reason that a lot of those areas should have been sprayed in my opinion, but I see that's a fight Florida fisherman have been fighting for ages which is sad.

good job brotha. looks like it was a tough day for most of the field. Whats your action and power on the chatterbait rod? I roll with a MH Moderate Fast

Thanks bro! I usually use a medium heavy as well. While prefishing I decided to throw a chatterbait last minute and I tied it on a different rod than I normally use. It’s a rod I use for small cranks and baits with treble hooks. I meant to change it out and never did and it cost me a few good fish tournament morning.
