And I haven’t played guitar in several decades (almost 4!), but bought myself one not long ago, thinking that maybe I will be able to take it up again as a hobby (if my arthritis will let me!)… Can you please explain to me what «cord-progression patterns» really means? When (if) I get going again, maybe that is something I should try practicing? Maybe it would be useful for several things, just as a general chord practice and getting the playing «to flow», or whatever I could call it… Anyways, appreciate a reply! Reading these posts just inspired me. When summer comes that may be the right moment to get trying, as my joints are better then, who knows, maybe it’ll even be good finger exercise, LOL…🤗
when you study music theory and practice its not that hard to do, im no where near a professional like Reggie but I play guitar and can learn songs by ear too, usually takes me about 5 minutes to learn a whole song

You know lot of people forget that they can still learn things You can learn to do that, it takes times and Guitaro is a very talented man (not only musician) above it But you can learn with work and singleness But you can So try somethings, it will not be perfect but it's ok (Thanks Guitaro btw, you make happiness grow up!)
Although he is very talented if what you like are pop songs its actually not hard to do this, since usually these songs are only made up of few chords in repeat, you would just embellish these chords to sound better. Unless if you are doing jazz songs that would actually require talent
This is a combination of a good ear and logical thinking. Music has structure and most music that he plays is relatively simple in structure. Say a pop song, it consists usually of 3 chords in the verses, a slight variation in the chorus, and sometimes a variation in the bridge. As a guitarist you know the chords that does not require thinking anymore so its mostly following the parts. The thing that impresses me most about guitaro is his ability to apply rhythm in such an incredibly smooth way

Figured I’d share that tidbit.
Great performance! I'll have to check out the original. As a guitarist, I'm consistently impressed by Reggie's ability to pick up these songs. On the spot he learns the chords, the changes, does the sardine can drums and even saves mikes from falling! At least the next song was a gimme. You can't be a performing musician without knowing "I'm Yours," the "Brown Eyed Girl" of the 2000s.
