I've seen these wonderful artists in The Met Live HD and they were fantastic!
People never understand that the Queen of the Night is just on stage for only 13 mins in the entire 3 hour opera, but for those 13 mins she steals the entire opera. Her 2 arias are 2 of the most difficult arias for a soprano to sing.

The queen of night's make-up makes her look like she's from some glam rock band
In a way, during her scenes, it's like the stage itself is part of her costume. Stand-alone it certainly sticks out. On stage though the scenes blend perfectly and are dreamlike.
Jaydoggy531 The stage IS part of her costume. There's a group of puppeteers controlling her wings in the first act.
