Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely dedicated Cristine is to make sure every single polish is perfect right down to the science of it?! You're truly a professional and we can truly see how much love and care you put into your brand. :)💖
@@_cloudface_ It may not be very deep to most people, but as a consumer and avid fan of nail polish, I very much appreciate her time and dedication to making sure the products are up to par and suitable (not to mention safe!) for customers. :)
I was absolutely obsessed with this stuff as a kid. I painted my entire nintendo dsI green then I added black crackle over top. Thank you for making this😂
If its dried up which it probably will have by now (mine had) adding some nail polish thinner (butyl acetate & ethyl acetate) will fix it up. May take quite a bit longer than a regular polish, but mine now all work again.
Wow Cris, I knew you were an extremely intelligent woman, but adding ‘science teacher’ to the roster of things you can do well is just mind blowing lol I love you.
Omg I used to watch simplynailogical sooooo much when I was little!! You’re still doing this??? I remember when holo taco first released and I begged my mother for some 😭
I remember crackle polish in the 2010s!!! I loved it when one my moms friends daughters would do my nails with them. It was so fun and I felt so cute at the age of 8 😭
That is interesting! I got black crack nail polish not too long ago and i still have yet to use it. I was thinking about doing a bright multicolored undernail with this on top so the pretty colors would shine through, but i wasn't sure if it would crack enough. Great to know i need layers for less and bigger cracks! ^^
Oh dude this would be so perfect for trying to replicate a bark texture!! That would be so cute for a tree based look! Druids and park rangers rejoice!!
Thanks for the explaination, I tried doing a nude version but I had a weird base coat that wasn't proper lacquer, it must have been that rubberized base coat I was wearing a lot around the time these were super popular. The crackle/shatter polishes were so cool, especially over a nice shimmery, colorful polish. I did a whole thing like those rainbow, scratch out paintings, it was difficult to get right, but so worth it!
I'm honestly surprised that people aren't aware that this crackle paint has existed forever because us home builders and contractors are perfectly aware that if you want to paint something that looks aged and antique you paint it with a glossy paint then you put a paint over it with those same characteristics that does the exact same thing where it applies in an even coat and then dries by shrinking down and crackling to look like it has degraded. That's how people have been doing that farmhouse look for a long time with cabinets and dressers and doors.
Man I could never get my other crackle polishes to work or look so...nice and crackly. I'ma buy me this and give young me a wonderful amount of satisfaction
I remember when I was little my sister had this blue-greenish crackle polish and she told me that if I put it on the naked nail, the cracks would be in the nail itself. I was so scared I never tried to put it on. Her plan was successful 😂
I was doing nails professionally at this point and actually used crackle on set for an Amazon banner 😭😭😭 can’t believe they wanted it and can’t believe it’s back already!
basically anything with a shiny, gloss finish. I use a rubberized base coat, so that wouldn’t work. But if I used something like long-lasting base (which I assume dries shiny) that would.
I remember me and my best friend counting our pennies to be able to afford one bottle of crackle nail polish which iirc was $4.59 at the time, plus tax. Best sleepover EVER! especially the time when one crackle ended up in the shape of a middle finger ON her middle finger. And around the same time Katy Perry came out with a cheetah print crackle which nobody understood how it worked.
Okay, so early 1990s stuff is definitely back. I watched a show last weekend where teenagers were wearing so much early '90s style '70s nostalgia that I had to keep checking that it takes place in 2024. I was there for the first two waves of all these lettuce-edge cropped knits and sweaters with low-waisted massive flares and it's crazy to see anyone trying to make it cool now. 😏
I went out for dinner on the same day that I saw this video, and I saw some dinner plates that had EXACTLY THE SAME crackle finish, like down to the colour and everything. I got so excited! I wonder if a similar principle can be used to make ceramics that look like that
"Messy is good" FINALLY a nail polish me and my shakey hands can use
But you need to apply a clean layer of polish below it 😢
@@NotEvenNoah1but it’s okay if the bottom layer is a little messy ‘cause you won’t notice it as much :) i mean, it is partially being covered
finally? This was in trend when I was in primary school look over a decade ago
@@dunkyourdonuts2282I think they just wanted to leave a cute and positive comment ❤
I read "me shaky hands can use" and therefore switched to hearing Mr Krabs in my head
This takes me back to 2010 when these were all the rage.
I've been searching for this stuff for the last 3 years but no one carries it cuz it was so trendy but nobody actually did it regularly
@@vozera723they’re slowly coming back , in my country I saw them at the drugstore like 2/3 days I go
I used to beg my mom to paint my nails these... And I would sit down while she did them, oh memories
Me and my best friend thought we were sooooo cool for wearing crackle nail polish over red nails. 😂
Same! My sister and I loved them! We got a pink one for Christmas!
I didn’t realize it had to be on top of another color in order for it to work, that’s so cool!
I remember this was a trend years ago and everyone used to pain their nails gold or silver before putting that cracked black or white polish 😭
Or just a base coat
colorless basecoat looks cool with this!
Yes interesting is right!!! I didn’t know that it only activated over polish either!
The crackle polish resurgence is proof that scene queens in 2010 were ahead of their time
I can't wait to start doing this again and I'm very tempted to put stripes in my hair
@@JacksenRose do you mean the fake ones or actually dying small parts of your hair?
Crackle polish as a trend existed before the 2010s. I remember it being huge in the early 2000s.
The 2010’s are already coming back
ha! I'm the 1000th like
Is CRACKLE POLISH COMING BACK IN STYLE??? I’ve been awaiting this 😅 yessss
Excited
Ugh not me haha i hated these, and still hate them
moms nail polish box (black hole) coming in handy 💪

it's giving Klondike bars 😂😂
It looks like it could be tree bark to me. Like if you put a brown colour on underneath the crackle polish
BYEEE 😭
Better than my first thought which was bird crap.
Thank you Cristine for explaining it. I love that you can make it easy to understand.
I was absolutely obsessed with this stuff as a kid. I painted my entire nintendo dsI green then I added black crackle over top. Thank you for making this😂
Omg the crackle polish and glow in the dark is so cool! Please keep them permanent!!
They're seasonal
Is that why it smells stronger than normal nail polish?
yep. that’s the high concentration evaporating directly into your lungs
yeah, bcs it evaporates extremely quickly, it changes from water to air really fast
I love that crackle polish is back, I was obsessed with this in the aughts and I'm sure I still have some in my collection buried somewhere!
ooo i’m interested in if it still “crackles” after all these years - fingers crossed!
If its dried up which it probably will have by now (mine had) adding some nail polish thinner (butyl acetate & ethyl acetate) will fix it up. May take quite a bit longer than a regular polish, but mine now all work again.
Im barely getting into nails so this is the perfect channel for me omg...
Mine just came in the mail I’m so excited!
Waiting on mine🖤👻🤘so happy for you
I love that you just broke this all the way down.! Looooove ittttt.!!!

Omg yes i mISSED THIS TREND 😭 Thank you Cristine the science nail queen, my childhood is once again complete
I love this set up
christine is the only person who can make crackle polish look good
not me having flashbacks to 2010, when I would settle for no less than the official Katy Perry branded version of this product
Oh my GOD the rush of nostalgia when you mentioned that, I had completely forgotten about it.
I use this same technique with regular paint projects with a layer of glue in between paint coats. It's dope!:)
That's really cool, is there a specific kind of glue or paint that's needed?
Omg I used to watch simplynailogical sooooo much when I was little!! You’re still doing this??? I remember when holo taco first released and I begged my mother for some 😭

Black crackle would be so cool on top of like a bright orange polish, like magma or something
This collection is genius!!
I always wanted a gold one

I used to be pretty obsessed with this in high school 😂😂 after that I didn't really use nail polish again so it was my last nail art obsession.
That's pretty cool
reminds me of when you tried these for the first time in an OG video 🥹🥹🥹

We definitely need more colors in crackle polishes
Ah, I remember selling these in Fashion Bug back in '08-'12😅
Always loved a good crackle polish.
My mom uses this stuff to paint spots that look like leopard print, it usually turns out pretty cool
Love this, wish we could get more science behind our art form🤓🧪👩🔬🔬

The question why is the polish named 'Cracked Taco Shell' and not 'Cracked Shell Taco' is still eating up my empty head 🥲
Wellll technically you can use a taco over the crackle
because its like a hard shell taco. hard taco shell v soft taco shell
Ok hear me out I’m not to much of a Taylor Swift fan but those would make some badass folklore nails👍
I imagine black crackle over a green/blue gradient would look like a haunted forest
We bringing back crackle nail polish? I’m here for it!
This really made me miss crackle polishes
You bringing back crackle polish from the 2010's...flashbacks. MAJOR flashbacks.

Huh. That actually is really cool.
I missed this nail polish so much
Omgaaa i bet i still have all the OPI ones somewhere., Those were all the rage back in the day.
Wait how is this coming back, didn’t we realize how awful it looked 15 years ago
man y’all be talking about remembering 2010 but I was in my mom’s womb in 2010 😭
need this in white 🥺🥺
i used to get it from hot topic and never understood why it just worked as regular polish. i still used it up tho
Man I could never get my other crackle polishes to work or look so...nice and crackly. I'ma buy me this and give young me a wonderful amount of satisfaction
My my my what a time for me to have found a scientist for art nails😂❤
I miss shatter nail polish! I’m not sure if it’s out of style right now but even if it is, idgaf I’d still wear it.
The texture reminds me of a shaggy mane mushroom and now I’m imagining a beige topper over a cream base
My daughter thought she was grabbing my one coat black and thought it was ruined.
i remember how popular these were 😂 i like how urs looks a little more like wood grain though. does it come in brown?
This was interesting to hear! I'm still not a fan of the look but the science is interesting.
Cracking nail polish was mind blowing when I was a kid
I used to actually dry brush black over a color I'd wear, this eliminates the need to do that
I was obsessed with it crackle polish as a kid! Completely forgot about it. Though these look like they work a lot better and faster
You just unlocked a core piece of my memory. I completely forgot about the crackle polish phase.
Rocking a crackle right now and the kids ask why is it broken 😂

Omg *-* this is my fav.ever..but i run out of them :( and I didnt find yet...i thought nobody use them nowadays:')
Wait what if you put it on your nail, let it dry, then put on another coat? Will the second coat crack?
When I was younger I ALWAYS wanted crackle nail polish but salons never had it and I didn’t/don’t have the coordination to do my own nails
Magic shell for nails. Hmmm….

basically anything with a shiny, gloss finish. I use a rubberized base coat, so that wouldn’t work. But if I used something like long-lasting base (which I assume dries shiny) that would.

In the automotive industry this is called lifting, and it’s a bad day when it happens. From 2 very different paint systems mixing together

Try doing orange nails and then this weird black paint here on top to make a magma design
I love! That’s thank you
My mom bought this for me when i was younger and i guess the type of nail polish we had wasnt the right kind because it didnt work.
I can’t believe crackle polish came back. It is true everything comes back into fashion.
