This is perfect!! I’m about to be doing a Marshall Lee cosplay from Adventure Time and I’m gonna need some pointy grey ears so this tutorial works nicely 🥰
As soon as I saw the Mr. Super Clear, I thought of Poppen Atelier and her doll repaints! Also, the blush and freckles added such a cute look to these, beautiful job!
I'm really late to this video, but I just had a quick question. Has the paint at all cracked or came off of the ears while wearing them? I was just curious, but this is such an awesome video.
I’m currently playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past (my personal favorite of the series) and seeing these awesome ears makes me think you should cosplay as Princess Zelda. No pressure though, love the content, stay safe out there :)
Damn you look good with long ears!! Simp for the win! :D Though I have to say with the masking tape on at 1.59 it looks like you have cut off some poor Elf's ears to string on a necklace. Remember people, GOBLIN ears for your quest reward, not any pointy ears out there! Love the use of your actual makeup on it, gives it a more natural looks especially when you then use the makeup with yourself to match.
I just bought a pair of these and this video is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Was worried about not having an airbrush until I remembered the hubby has one for his miniatures 😂 quick question: are there any alternatives for the mr super clear? Last time I checked it wasn't sold in the US and I'm hoping to avoid buying online (need that instant gratification lol)
I'm trying to make some elf ears, but I've noticed that the sealer cracks a little when stressed. However I'm only using blush; how does it stand with paint? Have they held well?
The paint on mine is just starting to wear off after 2-ish years and many, many wears! If I were doing this again I would do this with several SUPER thin layers of paint and sealer. I’ve also seen people just use makeup with no sealer (or a light coat of hairspray) as a temporary method of coloring their ears! I’ve seen this work really well too. I hope that was helpful!
absolutely beautiful, my only question is did the paint crease? my issue with using acrylic was that it creased when i folded the ears, even just slightly.
if creasing is the issue you should get liquidtex fabric paint medium or use paint that's already bendy (liquidtex sells a lot of paint that can basically double as fabric paint even without the medium)
@@GraceWillow How about any other latex ones? I have ones from Spirit Halloween and an Ardani pair and they work ok, but the spirit gum is a bit troublesome. I was just wondering how they compared.
In my experience, these ears fall off pretty easily. I bought a pair of these for my sister last minute so she had some ears to wear at renfest (I have 2 day shipping) and her ears kept falling off the entire day. I think aradani ears struggle a little bit with spirit gum maybe because their ears are a little thicker? The thinner ears from madhouse fx studio or even cosplay fx stick very easily. I’ve never tried the spirit Halloween ones.
I'm getting a Kendo cosplay from my hero academia and decided to get elf ears as an extra touch, thank you for this video so I can see how to fix them if they don't match!
Sorry if I just keep missing it but what kind of paint are you using? I'm trying to make a set of dark skined ears for my best friend because it's surprisingly hard to find some.that aren't white/peach colored. Most paints Ive tried don't stay permanently.
I bought a couple pairs of those at Goodwill last year. One's a bit longer and thinner than the other, and there's a very subtle difference in shade. I want to use one set for Maleficent (or a similar dark fay character) so it'd be under a headdress, but the other one I'm definitely going to repaint for a future costume. Yours turned out really great! What adhesive will you use with them?
I just got my first pair in the mail today.. and I'm wondering if self tan would work on this material? I mean it washes out of clothes I wonder if it dies anything else?? Does anyone know the answer to this
I love how these look and am super excited to try this out for some cosplays in the future. I do have a question though. What brand of acrylic paint did you use or does it really matter. I know you have some linked under the video but I'm wasn't sure that is what you used for it. Thanks for posting this video cause I had no idea how to do it and yours is the only video I have found about it that I understood!
Aw thanks so much! On this project --I don't think it would matter all too much! I use vallejo paints (the ones I linked below) because they're really tough, smooth, and pigmented, but you can use whatever works for you! I hope that helps!
Hmm! If I had to guess it may be the acrylic paint you’re using or how you’re applying your coats of paint. Here are some potential fixes: apply your paint and your super clear in very thin coats, wait for each coat to dry completely before applying your next coat. I use Vallejo acrylic paints which are small, but a teeny bit goes a long way! You can dilute the paint in airbrush diluter or water. The paint on my ears are starting to wear off finally but it’s been just over two years of wearing them many times. If you prefer trying another way, get some makeup and apply it on the ears like you would your face! You can use blush, setting powder, and highlighter too. It’s not permanent, but a lot of people prefer doing it this way! I hope that was helpful.
Hey there, I just was scrolling on TikTok and saw one of your videos. The elf persona that you took over was named Briar. And I think that’s really cool because that’s also my name! Just something that made me smile, that’s all. It was kind of difficult to find a way that you could possibly see this, as you have comments off on TikTok and Instagram. But I do understand why you would shut then off. But anyway, have a good day!
Hi I have a question. I know you have a character named Bryer and I wonder if you have a name suggestion for my elf character. My character is very kind but she can get angry very easily. She also has red hair and she is a forest elf.
Sorry I haven’t posted on here in a minute! I have been pretty active on tiktok if you have one-let me know!! I would love to follow you & see you over there!!
Bro I got $10 elf ears that don't match my skin tone but I didn't buy it off Amazon and I have really light skin but it's okay I really like them I just got it at a little booth add a event I don't think I'm going to be painting them am I paint them pink or something to look like the Melanie Martinez creature ears that it has and put like clay to make it look like that anyway
Wow the end result looks extremely natural, and the little bit of makeup did add a lot of dimensionality to the ears!
i know it is quite randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Nixon Roger Ehh lately I have been using flixportal. You can find it on google =) -justice
@Justice Elias thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!!
@Nixon Roger You are welcome =)
Using makeup to get a closer match is genius! it’s also nice to see another doll custom fan ^_^
Saving this video for future reference cause I'm planning to do more cosplays with elf ears in the future
I like how you shaded them and put little freckles on them too. They turned out really pretty.
That is amazing how close to your natural skintone they are well done.
This is perfect!! I’m about to be doing a Marshall Lee cosplay from Adventure Time and I’m gonna need some pointy grey ears so this tutorial works nicely 🥰
What a great idea! I've always wanted elf ears but my skin tone is odd. Will definitely use your techniques. Thank you for the inspiration!
I've been working on an AoC Link cosplay. This'll be perfect for that!
Aww~ you are a cute little elf
You can also use acrylic paint then a finish coating to prevent wearing!
Im ordering some of these for daily wear and now im more confident in customizing them 🥰
Awww!! fanastic!
Love the freckles technique.
As soon as I saw the Mr. Super Clear, I thought of Poppen Atelier and her doll repaints! Also, the blush and freckles added such a cute look to these, beautiful job!
This is actually really impressive!
I’m happy you think so!
Thank you for posting this!
I have those same exact elf ears and im trying to make them look more natural so i can look like an elf everyday.🖤
WOW these turned out really good!
I'm really late to this video, but I just had a quick question. Has the paint at all cracked or came off of the ears while wearing them? I was just curious, but this is such an awesome video.
Cute! I love the little freckles! I’d still rather just spend a few extra dollars to buy better ears.
I’m currently playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past (my personal favorite of the series) and seeing these awesome ears makes me think you should cosplay as Princess Zelda. No pressure though, love the content, stay safe out there :)

Thank you! You have helped so much! I’m excited to try this on my new pair I just bought
thanks for the tuto really help me a lot !
thanks i just got a couple of these ears myself that came with a crown
Super cute Grace freckles! Nice video =)
I'd be very interested in seeing your power armor completed video, showing you wearing it around,
I have a video wearing it! Check my con/vlog playlist. I wore it to PAX a few years ago. (2016 I believe)
@@GraceWillow oh wow thank you. I'll check it out!

I think I'm going to elf it up this year 🧝♂️
They came out so beautiful!🫀
I just use powder makeup in the brush with nothing else and it works perfectly
I was looking for something to watch and came across this so I put it on and you are sooooooo PRETTY! Also very smart putting make-up on it.
Aw thank you so much!
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve been trying to find a way to get ears that don’t have latex and it’s very hard to find let alone in my skin tone
beautiful
Those came out great!
This was a perfect video! Thank you!!!!
thank you!!!
Great little project!
I think I’ll try this, myself. Yours came out really cute!
This video just healed my soul

I don’t have mr, super clear is there anything I could substitute it with?
I think you can replace MSC with a spray varnish to seal the paint at the end but I don't know if it could work as a base
This is awesome; thanks for sharing.

i saw you on the thumbnail and said, WOW she is gorgeous
Just the video that I needed to see today as I work on a Bosmer cospaly . Do these ears sit better than say latex ones from Aradani?
Aw great!! And I’ve never tried the latex ones from Aradani so I’m not sure!
@@GraceWillow How about any other latex ones? I have ones from Spirit Halloween and an Ardani pair and they work ok, but the spirit gum is a bit troublesome. I was just wondering how they compared.

@@MeekaChannel I use prosaide with the ears in the video and they don't budge!
Great video! We get massive Tauriel vibes from The Hobbit Movies!
Oooohhh!! So pointy!!😀👍

They look very realistic. You’d fit right in any Peter Jackson LOTR films.
Aw thank you!
Great job ! But how do you prevent it from falling off ? Mine fall off so easily, like when i'm doing nothing at all
I was wondering the same thing, mine always come off too! I was wondering if people used some sort of a glue...?
Spirit gum glue or prosaide should help
Nice, I love elves.

I love this video

Do you use glue when wearing them?
Yes! I use prosaide!
I have these!
You look like Malon from Zelda Ocarina of Time, thats cute jaja
I accidentally bought red ones instead of the skin colour ones. Can I apply this method on those ?
Also your tutorial was very helpful
Might as well try it!! See what happens!
How do you get the ears to sray on?
What adhesive did you use?
Interesting video but the link is not a direct link to the exact product since you cannot see any option for changing the skin tone
Lol, I tried painting my ears with Acrylics and even with a paint sealer it cracked. I hope mr super clear will help more
what airbrush do you use?
I use an Iwata Neo!
how do you get these types of ears to stay? >_< they always fall off for me :(
I use pros-aide adhesive! It's comfortable and it keeps the ears on hall day!
I don't know if you've read ACOTAR, but you'd make an excellent Gwyn 😊
Does It hurt
I want to pier my ears but dont know how to do it
cool !!!
I used mr super clear, and arteza acrylics, but the paint on my ears is chipping off like crazy after just two wears. Anyone know what’s going on?

Hair spray will work if you want to use makeup instead of paint. It’s not as permanent but itll keep the makeup in place.
