    (a quick tip!) if you need an earcuff for cheap take a cap eraser and cut of the point, then cut a slit down the side. then paint with metallic acrylic and a bit of pva glue to make it some what flexible!

    I like how you explain all this, very clear and enthusiastic ^^! And thanks for showing the easier method with the sticky strips :P I like the idea of using elf ears for a casual look and not just cosplay so something like stick strips is a really quick and easy idea to use with!

    Now here's a question for you, LOVE your tutorial btw, but I would like to know, is there something spray on or otherwise you can use to coat the ears to keep them from losing color/ getting makeup all over your hair and such? I would like to color a pair of ears to be used over and over again and match my skin-tone. However the event I'm using them for will take all weekend. I dont want to take all my morning just reapplying makeup to my ears. I'd like to put em on, and go each day hahah!
    Along with ears, have you ever made prosthetics with liquid latex? Here's a challenge, make it look like gemstones are growing out of your forehead and by your eyes. I'd love to see a tutorial for THAT, ... and possibly for moving cat ears that start down and the action makes them go up but hey! I'll take more latex and prosthetic tutorials anyday!

      Sorry I missed replying til now! Adding a little loose powder on top of your makeup seems to keep the makeup on just fine, but I'm sure you can use a makeup setting spray like Krylon Fixier spray or Urban Decay All Nighter. You can (and should) keep your ears in a plastic bag between uses and keep out of direct sunlight when not wearing to preserve them for years :)
      I've never tried other latex products but your suggestions sound very creative ^^

      I've had luck with make-up set spray... Not permanent but very resilient.

      kit kat I would recommend blending Graftobian’s “blue” and “blithe spirit” rubber mask grease to achieve that color.

    i have long ones that are pre-painted, but i'm scared to use spirit gum. and do you HAVE to have liquid latex? like, is it a necessity?

    • @ganbattecosplay6073
      @ganbattecosplay6073  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go ahead and try the sticky strips instead! Be very careful when you remove them of course, you don't want to tear the ears. Liquid latex is definitely optional - you can always cover the top seam with your hair and the bottom seam with an ear cuff.

    whats easier to use, the liquid latex or is there a neutral fill in the gap stuff, thank you
    great video

    • @ganbattecosplay6073
      @ganbattecosplay6073  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm...I prefer liquid latex because (even though it smells!) it's easy to apply and once it is on, I know it will stay. If you wanted to try something different, you could use a little nose/scar putty. You'd have to put on a little spirit gum, then attach the putty and blend it out.

    This is a really great tutorial! I do have one question, though. how long would you say it takes to put elf ears on? and how many layers of liquid latex do you think I should do? You did two, but I'm not sure I'm patient enough to wait for that. how long does each layer of liquid latex take to dry?
    thanks

    • @kiarak4071
      @kiarak4071 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I' ms ure you already got an answer, but liquid latex only takes a few minutes to dry if you sit in front of a fan. While you wait, it helps to distract yourself for a minute. I would say it only takes about 5-10 minutes. It would take longer if you were painting them beforehand, though.

    What happens to latex if the wrong kind of makeup is used? I followed the coloring instructions, but didn't have the right kind of makeup.

    • @krundjust_krund8664
      @krundjust_krund8664 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oil based paints need a sealer put on the ear first to prevent it from soaking up which will yellow the latex and eventually degrade them. You CAN use liquid based makeup right on the latex just fine.

    I am allergic to latex. Do you have an alternative recommendation for it?

    • @aelfdane_fae
      @aelfdane_fae 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are companies that sell silicone ears instead

    • @aelfdane_fae
      @aelfdane_fae 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And you could use like a cosplay putty instead of the liquid latex :)

    does anyone think i could use eyelash glue instead of spirit gum? on a budget

    • @SpicePrincess1890
      @SpicePrincess1890 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can work, but probably only for smaller ear tips. If your elf ears are bigger/heavier they'll probably need something a bit thicker with a stronger hold like spirit gum.
