Agree, but the palace is the home base for the royals. In spite of what you may have heard, the vast majority do like the Royal family. It’s a 1000 year old institution that defines England.

They don’t own Buckingham Palace. The Crown owns it. It is not the monarch’s private property, so why would they pay to have it renovated? Would you pay to have your office renovated?
