I showed this to a university class full of future English teachers as we began a unit on methods for teaching vocabulary. Theorists tell us to get students excited about language (words). If this doesn't do it, nothing will! My future teachers cracked up--and then filled the board with other "fun" words! Thank you for sharing this.

If you check out the credits you'll notice that it says the audio was created by The Vestibules and I don't hide that fact. If you search "Bulbous Bouffant" in TH-cam, you'll find a TON of other people who have used this very same audio. Actually, you probably see some of those in the bar on the left. In addition, I actually contacted The Vestibules and got official permission from them to create the video in the first place.

Thanks for bringing this back into my life. And love the animation! When I was in 5th or 6th grade i would sometimes record Dr. Demento, which came on Sunday nights @ 10:30. I'd hit record, then fall asleep listening to that crackpot, then listen to the rest on my Walkman over the week's bus rides and lunch lines. This skit was important to me as high art, which I forced friends to try and reproduce with me for years and years... to this day when we get together.

This is so very old, from the far reaches of the First Era of the Internet of Things. It holds in its moments the keys into a former age, to the understanding of the core of humor. This, my friends, this is the essence of early 21st century comedy. Be that as it may, this relic has, unfortunately, never seen the popularity it deserves. May it rest in honor, to be referenced by niche friend groups for years to come. Not fading from our memories, and preserved in the unending archives of the ever-growing world wide web.

I don't understand how this only has 1 million views. Not just in that it deserves more views, more so that it genuinely doesn't make sense to only be 1 million. I learned about this living in Nebraska in 2011, and it seemed decently popular then. Now 13 years later I've met multiple people who don't know each other in the Pacific Northwest who recognize my random references to this. How can a video make such a widespread impression over such a long time and not have more views??

Little side note (probably repeating myself): I love how the first guy is clearly a Muppet (or a very off-kilter, oddly voiced, dressed, and made-up person, anyhow), and the second guy looks "normal" (or cartoon-normal, at least), but after he has given in to the fun and the 3rd guy arrives, HE looks so normal (and full size) that fellow #2 is revealed as the puppet he is.

I love it when someone asks me a closed ended questions, I respond Nooo, the Eskimos! Or a BaluGA whale! Those enlightened by this recording catch it instantly, others just look at me and walk away w a pained, strained look on their face! I've even memorized this with my daughters, and make for a fun car ride as we roll along saying/ singing mukluks/placebo/blubber / blubber/blubber/ shindig

Spencer, True enough I was introduced to Bulbous Buffont while on a scuba diving vacation in the Caribbean. One of our fellow divers was a ten year old girl who had the whole thing memorized. By the end of a week together on the dive boat, all of us adults were winging it and singing along....and adding verses of our own. Carry on! Spencer! Carry on! I have always had a certain appreciation for sing-song-words.... like ankylosing spondilitis, idiopathic telangectasia and endoplasmic reticulum.
