  • *Edit-Brown Mountain now only allows side by sides on Trail 1 and 8.
    Wondering where to ride your side by side? This video is a guide of trail 10 from a side by side point of view. It is a great trail that provides some technical challenges but doesn't get too crazy. And can be easily ridden on a bike, atv, or side by side.
    The Sony provides GPS and speed info so you can have an idea of the speed of this trail.

    will a 72" wide machine be ok through there?

      On the main trails- 1 North to Trail 8 you would have no problems. Jeeps and trucks go through there. 72" on some of the side trails would be a tight squeeze in some places. I definitely wouldn't to on 1A (first trail to the left after the parking lot) or 9/10. You could probably get away with 4 and 6 these days. Here is a link to the trail map. www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3814480.pdf

    Side by sides can only get on trail 1 and 8 now. Sucks. Not sure why.

    Can you spend a day riding atv's there? My husband & I just relocated to Shelby area from upstate NY & we are missing having trails to ride out on and I've been trying to learn about some places as I know it's limited here in NC :)

      Definitely. There are two trails that each take about 2 hours each, plus the other trails. The first trail on the left a few feet on to the main trail (Trail 1) and close to the top trail 9. And there are several others that can be done in around 2 hours total. However those two trails are very technical and definitely require experience. The trail from this video is one of the easiest. You are also near Lake Houser (haven't been but heard about it). Brushy Mountain in Taylorsville is also a blast and isn't quite as rough. Happy riding.

      Brown Mountain, Uwharrie OHV, and Brushy Mountain Motorsports park are the best I've found in this part of the state.

      Jason Lewis Thanks! I had a Sony FDR 1080p action camera thay had built in GPS. Ive since switched to a GoPro Hero Session. I like it better but Iost GPS capability. Thanks for watching.

    Do you think the yxz r with recluse is a better choice than the ss?

    • @FunGoingFast
      @FunGoingFast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I've never really been a fan of paddle shifters on cars so I wanted a gear shifter and clutch. I feel more involved as the driver. And with the Rekluse I can handle technical terrain but still use the gears when things open up more. But if I only did really slow rock crawling I could see why people would like the SS or the gear reduction. Or if you are going to share with someone who would rather not have a clutch. Trade offs either way I suppose
