Don't care about high notes this, high notes that. This is my favorite Elton John song, for personal reasons, always will be. Thank you Sir Elton John, for saving my life.
It was pretty brave of him to do this because this pushed his younger voice to the limits of his range in 1971. So it's no surprise this is one of the songs of his past that he's going to struggle with.
A great performance of one of his grestest, if not the, songs. I used to lock myself up in my room and listen to this album, this sing sent chills up my spine. Way to still go at Sir Elton John.
In my opinion Elton John is undoubtedly a excellent artist! And I think this is just about everybody's favorite Elton John song! And many thanks to Bernie taupin for the lyrics! Thank you very much sir Elton John, And the rest of the band and Bernies poetry! Bernie is an excellent lyricist!❤❤❤
My lovely Neighbor just caught Elton show in Charlotte NC with her Son and Daughter ,Boy did you make her day Elton! Thanks for a career full of 1st class entertainment young man
Sir Elton is a grand old showman. There will never be another. His voice has obviously gone an octave lower due to his age, but does it not sound great anyway?
Wow I keep seeing these new TH-cam videos of this song with Elton There majestic! I love this song since I'm really actually mentally ill! Inventor I think outside the box! Chronic depression! But I love my wife! When she's around me I feel groovy!
I can see very well There's a boat on the reef with a broken back And I can see it very well There's a joke and I know it very well It's one of those that I told you long ago Take my word I'm a madman, don't you know Once a fool had a good part in the play If it's so would I still be here today It's quite peculiar in a funny sort of way They think it's very funny everything I say Get a load of him, he's so insane You better get your coat dear It looks like rain, yeah We'll come again next Thursday afternoon The in-laws hope they'll see you very soon But is it in your conscience that you're after Another glimpse of the madman across the water I can see very well There's a boat on the reef with a broken back And I can see it very well There's a joke and I know it very well It's one of those that I told you long ago Take my word I'm a madman, don't you know The ground's a long way down but I need more Is the nightmare really black Or are the windows painted Will they come again next week Can my mind really take it We'll come again next Thursday afternoon The in-laws hope they'll see you very soon But is it in your conscience that you're after Another glimpse of a madman across the water
YOU PEOPLE AT TH-cam STINK!! In your greed, not only did you interrupt his performance with a commercial but you truncated the song by abruptly ending it. Unprofessional in spades!
The ground is a long way down but I need more,!!!! My favorite line!!! Liking f****** jumping off a bridge! Where's the bridge! Led Zeppelin! Anyway I need more feet! I got to last a few more seconds! The ground is a long way down!!!!!!¡Believe me I'm insane and I know! Don't worry I'm vegetarian! I have a horse to go and some chickens and a cat!
Elton and Bernie are true legends. Modern artists just don’t compare...sorry Ed and Adele etc etc, but until you can write like this you’re just “en vogue” imitations.
I love animals I don't eat them I went to India I became a Brahmin Monk for 10 years I fed hundred of thousands of people vegetarian food I lived as a holy man who is very satisfying to my soul the soul is antimatter within the heart according to The Vedas
Take my word I was insane asylum! I think I was 21 I had a nervous breakdown! I was hearing voices! Audio hallucinations! That's the way the brain protects itself! So you don't fry! Anyway it was like one flew over the cuckoo's nest! Really! They used to take us out on these long walks in our pajamas! And the girls some people were always looking for glass to cut their wrists! And if they were found out! Electroshock therapy! Still used today! It's horrific! If you can figure out these mental illnesses! Just fry their brain hey how much should we use 250,000 volts oh yeah that sounds good! Just see if he vomits? He doesn't vomit just turn that s*** off! Cool man want to blow a joint? Nah I got some oxys!
The in-laws love to see me every weekend at the insane asylum? I think I saw Alice Cooper there! Anyway! Is the nightmare black? Or are just the windows painted? Like painted black? God I love the stones!
@@MrJMS814 he can't hit those falsetto notes like he used to...the 2 you're referring to aren't particularly high...I've been smoking for 45 years ...and I can hit those lol
it's great that he sings his old hits... but he could have gone for vocal coaching to get him some higher registers.... not "goodbye yellow brick road" highs... but this he could have done
The song is in the same key dipshit, and requires a tenor voice range, he’s now a baritone, has been for three decades, I bet you’d sound like a dying seal trying to sing this half as good has he can at his age
No doubt my favorite Elton John song
Don't care about high notes this, high notes that. This is my favorite Elton John song, for personal reasons, always will be. Thank you Sir Elton John, for saving my life.
Funny how music can touch us both physically and empathetically
It’s his best song period
It is a masterpiece of lyric writing .
I so enjoyed working for Bernie and Elton in 1973 and 1974
My fav tune of all time-Elton’s singing, piano playing…

I was in cruising in my 1969 Camero on a warm summer evening in 1972 with Madman playing on my 8 track...love this album.
Piano Universe; cool met my ex in his 69 camero it was just a shell at the time. Reminds me of better days. But I still love the song.
Piano Universe; must say I haven't listened to this song in so long.
Camaro. You had one and you still don't know what its called...

I was lucky enough to see Sir Elton in Denver in 2006, and he was phenomenal
I've heard many versions of this song, and this is absolutely my favorite, piano 🎹 is awesome, strings are phenomenal, WOW
he no longer has the same voice, but he is still an awesome pianist. One of his most beautiful songs
My lovely Neighbor just caught Elton show in Charlotte NC with her Son and Daughter ,Boy did you make her day Elton! Thanks for a career full of 1st class entertainment young man
This never gets old! So good!
The best and some of his fellow musicians were always with him🎉
Sir Elton is a grand old showman. There will never be another. His voice has obviously gone an octave lower due to his age, but does it not sound great anyway?
I think it’s better, actually
Wow I keep seeing these new TH-cam videos of this song with Elton There majestic! I love this song since I'm really actually mentally ill! Inventor I think outside the box! Chronic depression! But I love my wife! When she's around me I feel groovy!
One of my favs. Im73
I hope he lives for 150 years ,
This song is in my top 5 Elton John songs👍🏼
He can't hit the high notes like he used to. But the feeling's still there and that's what counts.
none of us can hit the high notes like we used to. (:-(
i think his voice nowadays is better for this song. It's a powerful song and his voice is more powerful than the past
YIFAN CAO I💚💚💚💚 this but I think this is a better version👉 th-cam.com/video/InOjdeQqQFA/w-d-xo.html. Definitely a different tone.
Amo 💕 essa música.
T
Next to Bennie and the Jets I totally agree!
Only 55 comments? Really!? One of his best songs 🐕🐕🐕
Great performance!
A true Legend without a Doubt.
I actually prefer this to his younger work. Maturity has it's rewards
This is US our boat in 1/2021, from the UK, A Madman Across The Pond.
Always a great visit.
This song is brilliant. Sure he can't hit the notes he did in his 20s....but this song is still amazing
Having surgery on your throat will do that
elton is the best!!!
Magical song
I can see very well
There's a boat on the reef with a broken back
And I can see it very well
There's a joke and I know it very well
It's one of those that I told you long ago
Take my word I'm a madman, don't you know
Once a fool had a good part in the play
If it's so would I still be here today
It's quite peculiar in a funny sort of way
They think it's very funny everything I say
Get a load of him, he's so insane
You better get your coat dear
It looks like rain, yeah
We'll come again next Thursday afternoon
The in-laws hope they'll see you very soon
But is it in your conscience that you're after
Another glimpse of the madman across the water
I can see very well
There's a boat on the reef with a broken back
And I can see it very well
There's a joke and I know it very well
It's one of those that I told you long ago
Take my word I'm a madman, don't you know
The ground's a long way down but I need more
Is the nightmare really black
Or are the windows painted
Will they come again next week
Can my mind really take it
We'll come again next Thursday afternoon
The in-laws hope they'll see you very soon
But is it in your conscience that you're after
Another glimpse of a madman across the water
The best!!
oh yea! love it!
My fave elton tune!
This is why the piano was invented.
Like your song
Peter Townsend George Harrison Donovan Chrissy Hines and many other prominent musicians have embraced the philosophy of The Vedas Jackson Browne

More Cow Bell!******* JK , this is rare to see Elton really game it up an play the snot out this friggin thing.
I would rely on The Vedas only because

Wonder why he's so scared to hit some higher notes. He does it a couple times seemingly by accident and it sounds like he has no trouble doing it!
He can't....he had throat surgery back in the late 80s
@@rayjohnson2387 He definitely did in this video... 3:50 for example, and again at 4:00

You're joking, right? He's about 65 years old in this performance. Pretty awesome!
Gregory Szymkowiak This is fine. Listen to Paul Stanley for a truly deteriorated voice.
You've been washed up since dodger statium
Couldn't hit the high notes at all, even after transposing the song from Am to Gm. Father time wins again.
Does it really matter man?
Retro Reginald only to that loser
Baci302 shutup
