- Welcome to my review of the First Release in Hasbro's Zord Ascension Project collectors line. First up is the original Dino Megazord from MMPR. Made up of the five main rangers zords; Mastodon, Pterodactyl, Triceratops, Sabertooth Tiger, and Tyrannosaurus. These are all based on the original concept art for Dauzyujn from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and feature detailed sculpts and articulation. But does this all add up to something that is worth the hefty price tag?

I think the cockpit feature on the individual zords would have been more successful if you could place the mini figures in them.
Those panels can go on the bottom of the feet for better standing
I have to say, I LOVE the mellow music during the transformation part of the video. Keep doing that - it’s great.
Looks like a updated version of the one they made when Hasbro first took over, and they still haven't made the Dragonzord for that version yet
I'm going to try and return mine. The quality is just so bad, mostly in the paint. I have paint errors all over the zords and there are scuffs and scratches everywhere. One of the sloppiest paint jobs I've seen on a large figure. I feel scammed having paid full price for this thing.

@@raitaylor yeah, it's remarkably bad. The tigerzord has silver paint all over the head like they did battle damage to it. It's really really bad.
It baffles me that this thing is so expensive yet they STILL couldn't get wheels for the Saber-Toothed Tiger or Triceratops Zords. At least Tyrannosaurus has hidden pegs and the knees go into the legs like they're supposed to.
I also don't understand why every high-end version of the mecha has the designer bits on the sword in gold when the show version was very clearly a dark grey.
Yeah, I don't think we'll ever get wheels on those two ever again, not even the SOC gave it to them.
I can't wait till the flame toys megazord comes out

I got the reference, but actually (sorry had to)... it was Sarah Palmer. Lol
I have this Megazord, and I overall like it. Just wish that mine didn't come with paint that was chipped off on the Megazords forearms, out of the box BTW, and the T-Rex arms were frozen shut, from the silver paint, so you couldnt move his elbows. One of them was stuck to his torso, and silver paint got onto the black part of his torso. Lucky it's in a spot you would never notice unless you were really looking.
The mini figurines... I got 2 Jason's but one was casted in blue.
I have seen other reviews where ppl have gotten duplicate figurines, but casted in different colors. Like you said, useless accessories, but for the money, it should be done right, and to best quality standards.
I feel it would be perfect for $100. I do not have the Legacy Megazord, nor the SOC, and I sold my 1993 one years ago, which I regret doing.
So, for someone in my boat... it's good for what it is, and the articulation is awesome. I also like how the T-Rex tail can separate so you can move the Megazord's waist, and how the Triceratops sides can extend to make it look wider. I see where they tried to do some unique things, but I would feel better with the price if I didn't have the hiccups I encountered.
Yeah, the regular issues, like the knees being weird, and the posts on the T-Rex knees being difficult to get to does suck, but I can live with those, it does not interfere with it's functions.
All things considered, I am happy to have this Megazord, I am getting Dragonzord, and I might even get the Astro Megazord because that did not get the Legacy or SOC treatment. Also, it's basically a Transformer, I would like to think that would present little challenge to Hasbro. Lol
But… the real question is, are the using the concept art or???
So in case you weren't aware, you can actually pull on the side panels of the Triceratops zord and extend them, as well as extend the caterpillar tracks downwards. It's not much, but it makes the Triceratops zord at least a little better and less like a basic brick.
Since I didn't own this other than the cheap Hasbro one I love it. For $125 I felt it was worth it and it displays great. It is a little light though. It is the best you can get for that price now, sadly.
Hasbro premium doesn’t seem premium at all most of the time.
Cause its only premium in name and price.

Yeah I'd more likely buy this at $80 like for a Commander Class Transformer, which this has more in common with than a Masterpiece
I have the chogokin and I am really happy with it. It is levels above this thing. Yes this version seems more posable, but the chogokin one is so much superior in other aspects
Wayyy too expensive for a plastic megazord. It shouldn't feel cheap. Bandai used die-cast so that it feels high quality and to help the joints. Hasbro with a big L. Hopefully it gets better. I would wait for it to go on sale.
I actually have the anniversary re-release for the Dino Megazord from a couple of years ago. Not sure I'm going to get the the ZAP one though. But I am excited to see what megazords they'll do next, hopefully the Dino Thunder one, or Ninja Storm. Unless they go in order by season.
If they go by seasons then that means we might finally get a re-release shogun megazord
@@xDeath35 No such luck. I was looking forward to all the MMPR zords, starting with Titanus. But they just revealed the Astro Megazord. Not a bad choice, but I'd still have preferred to get this line in order. Just me.
Heads up, the triceratops treads/legs do extend out further to make it look bulkier in its dino/tank mode.
Most critics are saying the same, that they were expecting better quality for the money. I want Hasbro to take these critiques to heart and improve on the next Megazord. I expect the Thunder Megazord to be next and frankly I’m far more interested in that than the original Megazord because for one reason we have had plenty of takes on the original and the other reason is that the Red Dragon Thunder Zord is my favorite Zord of all time
Unfortunately I don’t think Hasbro is going to make quality changes because the bottom line is that fans are going to buy it regardless :/ I’m not a huge PR collector but Hasbro hasn’t made many changes to their other lines either
@@thefirstguyjaek255 It also doesn't help that this isn't one of their main lines. Very secondary on the level of Play-Doh and Playskool. (not joking) Until they take it seriously, it'll never get better.
The knees are atrocious, especially where the T rex connects to the Sabertooth and Triceratops. The left Megazord knee joint is very loose now and I'm worried one day it'll just flop over. This is embarrassing for $165+ tax.

Only have the cheap hasbro one that I had to buy third party stickers for. So this is a must for me!
I think the problem with the size of the head is that in the show, the actual zord's head is not coming from the T Rex after the sequence is "complete" rather a human head gives it the bigger size since it's a suit with a person inside rather than a "toy" put together.
It just looks insanely cheap. I thought it was going to be much more premium. Glad I canceled my order
I got mine this past week, looks pretty dope. Although a little nervous that if it falls once it’ll break.
The Bandai version will always be my favorite.
If the megazord head was bigger the T Rex head would have to be even bigger to hide it

I feel like this Megazord needs to be at least around the 90 dollar budget range and not 150 dollars you can get a 3rd party transformer that has better plastic quality and has a masterpiece transformers level of transformation.Its making me think Hasbro is scamming us all,sure it looks good but the prices of their products are just ridiculous.Cybertron Metroplex from their new Transformers line is almost the price of a Masterpiece Transformers figure going for 200 bucks when he has a simple transformation with no electronics or anything sure its a Titan class but still I think thats abit too far for a titan.The commander class Motormaster that forms Meanasor with 4 other decepticons called the stunticons costs 90 bucks which is insane for the price plus there are issues with its plastic from yellowing to some of the pieces somehow being reshapened.The reason why there are these issues is that Hasbro wants to be environmentally friendly,which is kinda of a bullshit statement since they made a power rangers nft.Its good to be environmentally friendly but i think Hasbro being TOO ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY resulting to the plastic and paint problems plus how terrible the zords were packaged.Hasbro need to stop these problems and scamming the actual living out of us,making collectors deciding to buy a new figure or a 2 months worth of food supplies.
I think this megazord is fantastic and definitely worth the purchase! I am super happy with it. Obviously I wish it was $50-$65 cheaper, but I think overall this is an excellent product and I am excited for Dragonzord.
You didn't show off the triceratops tail cannon can move like the original one and the back cannons in Megazord mode can flip up over the shoulders. As someone mentioned you store the mastodon panels on the feet and you can separate the t-rex tail so you can use the Megazord waist articulation. I got mine a couple of days ago and I love it I think people are being too harsh on it with making a brand new mold and adding in all the articulation and other features it's unrealistic to expect it to only be $100 or less. I think it's well worth it
I only have the 2010 version of the Dino Megazord.
You’re supposed to put the mastodon butt cheeks on the bottom of the necks of the tiger and the triceratops. They’re not leftover except in tank mod

Is it worth it if you DON'T have 45,000 copies of this megazord? Like if you just had to own one version, or buy one version, which would it be?
I would say not for retail price, but if you find a good deal I could recommend it. Especially since it’s easier to get your hands on than most the other versions.
The mastodon trunk can twist right or left and face down to make a more accurate shield from the show.

The mastodon cover panels store and clip onto the heels of triceratops and sabertooth tiger in megazord mode. Not as elegant as the soul of chogokin version, but it does resolve the loose parts issue you mentioned.
I can't see the future, but what I like about the weight is that I had a major problem with the Legacy Mega Dragonzord bending and falling over. I feel like ZAP is going to correct that. I get that it's a large price, but it's for the aesthetic, not the toy in hand. It's for display purposes, and that's really obvious by the pieces popping off and the articulation. It was 3D printed, and I actually think the lack of weight works in its favor. The die-cast weighed it down. Literally. While it does look nice, Bandai usually only made for play. Hasbro is making for collectors and display.
Honestly, I see your point. I don't need the Hasbro stuff to be die cast but I still feel it should feel like a higher less brittle quality for the price. It honestly looks great, but for 160 dollars I shouldn't be worried about it breaking easily if falls over or have such loose joint feelings.
I also find it interesting that your point about Hasbro vs Bandai Megazords being "for play" vs "for display" could be said about the Lighting and Legacy role play items, but with the companies swapped. The Hasbro Lighting role play stuff definitely feels more for play purposes while the Legacy ones felt like high end display pieces.
@@DosmRider No, that's fair. It is overly pricey, but people pay more for stuff from Japan and SoC. That's a really good point about the reversal on the role-play items. I didn't think about that when I watched that video last night.

As for getting the head size right and the "man in a suit" look down check out the Super7 Super Cyborg Megazord, love that thing!

Hasbro needs to make,like, the ultimate mega zord,where it’s to scale with,maybe three inch scale figures or something,and make it suuuuuuuuuper accurate to the show,but then they would have to make a…and also…..hmm never mind! Maybe just a Goldie to scale with this mega zord,they also need to do titans and all of season two,increase the plastic quality and maybe add electronics to the zord s who had electronics in the 90’s ones,and make the zords look more accurate,and make them cheaper,and I am just realizing that I am comment ranting😅

I won’t buy this. I have the minipla which I really like and I’ve already preordered the flame toys. It looks good but I’m not going spend that much for something I have multiples of that are, in my opinion, superior.
