For cleaning, I've found 5 minute timers help me get around to everything....tidying a room, starting laundry, unloading or reloading the dishwasher, taking out trash. Even if 5 minutes doesnt take care of the entire mess, it is much better than me hyper focusing on sanitizing my kitchen cabinets!😂
I love this idea. Yes, 5 minute increments can be just the right amount of time!
I would love a talk on motivation without shame, and cbt tools!
Will do!
I would also love tips on mysophonia. My daughter has special needs, and when she has a bad day, she makes a particular sound.....and suddenly, I can't think!
And by the time I work through the work list, I feel energized enough to cycle through again and spend another five minutes on each category. Making the goal this small helps me feel like I accomplished something, rather than feeling overwhelmed. Finishing tasks is such a struggle, especially with young ones wanting my attention.❤
This is both a great insight and so helpful to others. Thank you!
I usually take the extra food from when hyperfixation ends to the local food bank, I don't want to eat it either and I hate wasting food so that is a win-win.
It's okay to miss once..
Don't miss Twice
This is wonderful content. I have never been diagnosed with ADHD. But my son has ADHD and when I started learning about it I realized I have lived the same way. I always feel I'm not progressing.
Thank you!
Sometimes it feels like two steps forward and one step backwards but that's still forward motion. Keep going!
Thank you. And thank you for speaking slowly and calmly- I find information presented with animated voices very hard to listen to and take in the information.
You are most welcome!
The CONSTANT/continual energy it takes to redirect myself and then REMAIN on task is utterly exhausting. :-(
I hear you. Pacing is everything with recovery time in between tasks to refuel.
@@DrSharonSaline Great advice & reminders. I'm also trying blatant rewards vs getting things done I don't want to do. So far it's working, LOL. Who knew?!! 😂
How can I improve my executive functioning skills?
Improving executive functioning skills takes time, practice and support. I encourage you to pick one skill which is most troublesome to you and start there. Then research possible interventions and try one for a week. If it works, great. If not, try something else. Good luck!
Hi Dr is there a ADHD eating diet as well?
Not that I know of.
I have been reading about the GAPS diet. Intriguing!
