As a fellow farmer, you need to keep a bottleof injectable dewormer instock. (in my opinion), you did it the wrong way. Those weren't eggs, Those were live mogots, putting the wound powder in, locks them in the wound.
    What I do,
1st is to wash the outer area
2nd spray the liquid dewormer in the wound,
3rd give it an hour or more, they will try to crawl out , but they will die
4th use a tweezer to pull out the ones left inside.
5th flush out wound with clean water and iodine solution, flush and work the area until it starts to bleed.
6th give the wound another dose of liquid dewormer, in and around.
No need to put wound powder on it, it will start healing up within 12 hours, flies will leave it for the rest of the time. Just check each day to ensure it's clean .
Also you could give the kid 1 cc of the dewormer also, so it's in its bloodstream to fight off any parasites for the next few months.

I agree with some of what you said, but this was just a quick emergency and I dealt with it afterwards

Mr Bernard, you have two kids who are Vets in training and good job to you. Before I went to college I worked under Dr Jerry Alexander at Hope Road as a serology technician in Youth Service. I was always in the sector after college and my firdt child said he wanted to be a veterinarian even up to his bachelors in pre-med at university. Suddenly he changed, went vegan, and went to PhD pharmacy instead of Vet School. In his case, over exposure was too much. In my case one grandpa was a butcher and I remember collecting bullseed and roasting on coal with salt and pepper.🥰

Such high quality goats need proper management and housing, Please to remove the excess debris or unwanted objects out of there environment, those sticks, board laying around even the metal bench, try to make their environment as clear as possidle, remember the kids have alot of energy and are very playful and will get hurt from the excess material laying around.

Great job. Next time use a tweezer to pull out the maggots and then use the ectoline. Did that with one of my dogs and he fully recovered.

That is a deep maggot wound. You need to have that flushed and treated to remove all the maggots before you use any of the topicals. You may have to vet him. So as to properly remove the maggots which are consuming his flesh. Once all are out you can use your wound powder and other topicals to keep away the flies whilst it heals and closes up. That hole is packed with those maggots. If have any injectable ivermectin on hand just put in a few drops and you will see them coming to the surface. The proper removal may require vet assitance as it may be too painful justblooking at the size. I have sssisted in treating. It takes a while. You have to flush out the maggots trust me the are numerous.

Useful information I also practice some of this but when you have to quickly do something and go, this is what happens I actually did more treatment afterwards

@@TrevorBernard03 Understood!👍🏼 You might have to put some cameras in place. Just to observe how they got the cut initially if it was one. That is a really nice fella. You may also have to check the rest of the herd. 🤷🏾‍♂️
