    This movie is the definition of the word "masterpiece". Everything about it works perfectly. The conflict between Hiccup and Stoick is handled very well, the bonding between Hiccup and Toothless is perfectly paced, I love how much Toothless acts like a cat, and how all the dragons act like real animals, and the musical score and flying scenes are absolutely beautiful. I cannot give this movie enough praise.

      This and Kung Fu panda are masterpieces. Madagascar is really good too. The music in flight scene is God tier. The whole soundtrack from this film is John Williams level awesomness.

    • @Kajotex

      This movie was the first time i actually recognized John Powell. He has since become my favorite composer. One of my favorite movie soundtracks before HttyD was Antz... which he also co-composed and I didn't know until HttyD. And when i watched call of the wild my only thought was "He can't keep getting away with this!"
      Testflight is just raw unfiltered emotion, i love it.

    • @lazersly
      @lazersly ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kajotex My only regret with John Powell is that he doesn't write suites. So his soundtracks just end. After a lifetime of John Williams, I'm used to some sort of wrapup or suite at the end of the soundtrack lol. And yeah, "Test Drive" is best of the best!

    This is my favorite animated movie of all time. The scene where Hiccup needs to navigate the lines drawn on the ground like a maze to touch Toothless for the first time is such a perfect visual representation of achieving intimacy with another. Having to carefully work through their boundaries little by little and then to risk and hope for acceptance. 🥲😭 The music is perfect. The scene is perfect and punctuates the building of a friendship that makes the whole movie work. This movie's flying scenes also made me feel like a kid again.
    I love this film.

    The whole trilogy is great, like others have said. Here's a little secret about these animated films: almost any of the really well known ones that have come out in the last 20 years are pretty awesome. Some people don't watch them because they think they're just for kids, but they're actually amazing films for everyone. Like other movies, some are better than others, but I haven't seen one that I disliked in quite a while.

    Mary, in one of your video you said you were having "baby fever." There are a few movies that would be good for a person with this fever. "Raising Arizona, Baby Boom, She's having A Baby, and Look Who's Talking" are all baby related comedies you will enjoy. There is one family / baby related story that is a thriller that is also interesting. "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" you might like. I know I'm in the minority on what really happened in this movie. I believe Hiccup died in this movie. The evidence was the well established fact that Toothless wasn't able to fly on his own. In the end when Hiccup is knocked off Toothless both fell into the fire together. Toothless wasn't able to help his friend because he wasn't able to fly. The book of dragons lists the Night Fury's facts as "unknown," a lot like death. Hiccup's father wanted for his son to kill a dragon. Hiccup did finally kill the largest dragon, but it cost him his life. Since it is Toothless that represents death, I believe it was Toothless that give Hiccup that new life where dragons and vikings are friends. That wasn't possible in Hiccups world, but it was in Hiccups afterlife.
