Ok, I won't reply to them, thanks for the heads up!
Damn those spamming bastards! Thank you for the heads up!
The band is amazingly talented and has been written off as being a niche band for frat bros and I have never understood it. They are a fantastic band that makes fantastic music.
It's because of the hits. The dmb hits are okay and kept the band relevant regarding the general public. But dmb has a deep following of people that really appreciate what music is.
Hallelujah!!!! Dave Mathews and Tim Reynolds! The beginning of DMB.
NOW WE'RE TALKING 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, his stuff w Tim is what got me into DMB.
Paul Revere and the raiders Indian reservation, can you review this?
I loved when you said tribal. Dave is from South Africa and his music has many influences from African tribal music. Spot on my friend. 😃👍🏻
Second
Those guttural cries from the heart are such a fitting intro and outro to this plea-for-redemption song.
Considering the Summer Tour dates were dropped today, this is incredibly fitting!
You should come out to the EPIC venue "the Gorge" in Washington on the Columbia river. It rivals Red Rocks amphitheater. The band plays 3 nights over Labor Day weekend & there is camping on-site. There's nothing like it man. Bucket List stuff!
If you'd like a glance at it & it's history check out the trailer for the documentary about the Gorge called "Enormous".
Def on my bucket list. I've been to Red Rocks & absolutely loved it but I need to get to the gorge.
Amen!! Seen DMB 16 Times at the Gorge. Dave calls it "Heaven's Amphitheater" and he's not wrong. Magic happens for 3 nights every year❤
Seeing Dave in June in Dallas!! I've seen 7 shows, never disappoints
I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this but Dave is originally from South Africa and that largely influences his musical and lyrical style. Hence the “tribalism” found in his works.
Going into a listening session with that in mind it’s easier to see the visual painting he is trying to represent. True love for his country’s traditions and mankind as a whole.
I was just about to say this. His mother always told him to keep the heart of South Africa in his music and it shows.
LOVE that you're doing Dave! Here's the thing... you could listen to that same song on the studio album and it would be different yet still great. You could listen to it in concert with the full band and it would be different than the other two, yet still great.
This particular song is nice for you to hear, because regardless if you like the song, you can see the immense talent. So Dave does the following:
-- Solo Dave: Things like the Tiny Desk Concert has just him and his guitar.
-- Dave & Tim: Dueling guitars
-- Dave & Carter: The Warehouse Sessions are great! Guitar + Drums only or Piano + Drums only.
-- Dave Matthews Band Studio: Clean cut studio versions of their songs.
-- Dave Matthews Band Live: All the musicians are extremely talented. And on any given night, it might be your favorite version of the song as they "feel" the music and go with the flow. A 5 minute song might turn into a 17 minute song.
And this is the crazy thing... I'd pick the studio version for 99% of bands, but with Dave, the live might be better. It's all amazing!
Keep going down this rabbit hole... you won't regret it. And get yourself to a concert. If they're in your city for multiple days, each concert set will be different. Go Day 1... you'll probably want to go back Day 2.
Cheers! :)
There are so many great songs to choose from. A few of my favs:
The Last Stop - If you like Led Zep's Kashmir, you might like this one: th-cam.com/video/yOgHBMujTCw/w-d-xo.html
Long Black Veil - Johnny Cash Cover: th-cam.com/video/2jgqEvfn7EE/w-d-xo.html
Ants Marching - Boyd's violin solos are awesome: th-cam.com/video/FoezrZ-DCJw/w-d-xo.html
Well said! Agree on all points
@@feminist5641 Thanks! :)
Disclaimer: I like DMB, as well as his solo album and his work with Tim Reynolds. I enjoyed the concert I went to, and I often enjoy the extended live versions. Listener Supported is possibly my favorite album of theirs, and I've watched the DVD multiple times. But this one just didn't do it for me. It felt way too stretched out, and in parts of the song it felt like it was meant to be a transition into something else, but it just stayed put and avoided moving into the next portion of the song. In doing so, instead of the song making those transitions into something more through those extensions, it felt like it made the entire song less overall. Again, I'm a fan, and I really enjoy long songs, but this one was losing my interest when it hadn't even started and was already several minutes in. I found myself wanting to move the mouse to see how close we were to the end. In this case, for me, the studio version is easier to listen to, and enjoy.
I saw them in 2018......got the tour bracelet!
Tim Reynolds is a VIRTUOSO! ❤😊
He does an AMAZING IN YOUR Eyes!
That's one I'd love to see him cover w Dave!
There's a reason DMB is one of the top touring groups of the last 20+ years. An absolute must see in person! So many great songs like The Stone, their version of Long Black Veil, #36, True Reflections....
40 year old pirate with Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews live is still one of my top tracks😊
Genius? Original? Necessary? A big, hearty YES to all three,
probably a few more superlatives as well. There is a particular
mood I’m in to listen to Dave..always come away refreshed.
Hey Polo…well done once again ❤
Btw: The entire Dave & Tim at Radio City Music Hall concert is amazing. I would urge anyone to find, and watch the concert in its entirety. Even if you have to pay to watch it if it’s not on TH-cam or someplace else for free, it’s totally worth it. Unbelievably incredible show. 🤯
Two Step , live in Central Park!! One of the all time great recordings, ever!! Thank you for more Dave…love the channel❤
Was there at CP...just mind-blowing.
Wow. I have been born again.
I’ve never heard DMB until tonight, but I’ve heard of them many, many times. Something told me to press play, but I never listened. This is beautiful, magnificent, lively and necessary.
I want to live, eat and breathe this song.
This is from Live at Radio City.
Epic album.
The live at Red Rocks album is superb as well
come to the Gorge with us on Labor Day weekend. Seeing them live, especially at that venue, WILL change your life.
@@ryanthiessen9040 😍😍I’ll make plans
Once I heard this album I never listened to regular DMB again. It wasn't that DMB was bad, in fact, I loved them.
But these two men elevated the DMB music to its peak evolution. And that is where I stayed.
That's son is so deep on so many levels.ans the way it was presented by him Pure genius man .
I appreciate you looking past the closed minded comments. No matter how you feel about them they are SEVERELY important to the history and future of music. Not to mention how ridiculously talented everyone involved has proven to be. I'm a massive fan!
Sure...
@POLOREACTSYT sure. Love your channel
I am in love with this performance.
the whole DVD or CD is just as good. Must watch. i actually have an extra copy of the DVD if you are interested
Just pay for shipping and you get a 2 disc set of this concert.
@@melissadianep1981 Wow, how?
You should go to a concert! Its so much feel good!!! Hard to put it any other way
Totally agree and there’s nothing like DMB live!
It’s a legit spiritual experience
Amazing live performance. Goosebumps, as always with Dave. :)
Dave was born in South Africa and moved between there and NY as a kid. I think some of his music reflects this. I have seen the band a dozen times and never disappointed! Thanks for doing this!
I'm a 60 something Gramma & fell in love with this band when my teenage sons did back in the 90's ❤
A duo made in heaven… great choice!💜😂👏👏
Don't Drink The Water live at Piedmont Park! And Warehouse is another great one.
Piedmont in Oakland?
One of my faves as well ❤
Definitely a trip into another dimension...And, loved every note.
Really liked it and didn't know I liked it before. Amazing, actually.
Going to check-out more of his music.
Hey Polo...Great Reaction.
Wasn't certain of liking Dave Matthews either.@POLOREACTSYT
I was at this show.. Mind blowing to say the least.. I, again, encourage you to check out All Along The Watchtower from Central Park.. being there was soul altering.. middle of Manhattan, 125k people, no seats, $15 tickets..
it is a bit long but I PROMISE it is beyond worth it.. you might need some water before it’s done.. it’s a doozy..
Imma recommend it every time lol
This is the song every reaction channel chooses. I've been a devoted Dave fan for half my life. It's just the correct choice to get hooked. The emotion he pours into this opener is astounding. It's spiritual. I don't even know how many react videos I've watched with this version of Bartender and I love every one of them. The more the merrier at every show. Hopefully, we get to see you this summer. If you somehow end up in Indy for his 2 shows, hit me up. We'll buy you a beer. Cheers
Been a fan of DMB for nearly 3 decades. For a guy to get up there with just one other dude and command a room that huge is a magic trick in and of itself. Don't overlook that part of this version of the song.
This performance is truly amazing. Not much more I can say. Been a fan since the early 90s, I think Dave Matthews is musically brilliant. My favorite drummer is in that band as well. Carter Beauford. That dude is awesome.
They’re one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Their live performances are insane.
Dave Mattews live with Warren Haynes Cortez. Amazing
Yea, Down by the River too.
Both Neil Young covers.
Absolutely amazing!
Tim played a bar stool venue and is responsible for Dave playing guitar and was a driving force of the band. I believe he explains that on this dvd.
As a 90’s kid I feel like Dave has been my generations Grateful Dead. Experiencing Dave live with an open mind fueled with some great weed is like taking serotonin bath. It will touch your soul in a spiritual or ethereal way. Don’t consider myself a hippie but after reading what I wrote I get the comparison. He’s talented on a level that I consider genius. Hope you keep digging deeper.
Dave Matthews is way more of their Jimmy Buffett than Grateful Dead. We can appreciate Dave Matthews' and Jimmy Buffett's everyman personas, work ethics, and their grassroots efforts, but the music is pretty lightweight, friendly, easy to digest, one size fits all, go with the flow, pedestrian type material. Grateful Dead, however, is real spiritual hippie genius along the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Santana, Lovin' Spoonful, Big Brother & The Holding Company, The Mamas & The Papas, Moby Grape, The Incredible String Band, It's A Beautiful Day, 13th Floor Elevators, Amon Düül II, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Gong, Hot Tuna, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly, Spirit, Hawkwind, Flying Burrito Brothers, The United States Of America, Aphrodite's Child, Love, Seatrain, and Country Joe & The Fish.
Dave grew up in south africa . . . you can hear the influence everywhere in his music . . . . he carries a continent in his repertoire.
Matthews was born and spent much of his formative years in South Africa. I imagine that his unique musical style/sound can be attributed to that influence.
What makes this more powerful is when you understand the biblical aspect of the song. Once you make that connection and understanding it will exponentially touch your heart.
Very deep and profound just lovely and heartbreaking
Very excited to go on this Dave ride with you!!!✌️
I'm gonna subscribe. Love that you are finding DMB (and tedeschi trucks band) highly suggest digging into more DMB like I have in the last couple years they are simply the best live band there is. Recommend that you check out DMB live if you haven't, nothing like it. Seeing that you are in Perrysburg, I'd suggest either Noblesville, IN on 6/28 & 6/29 this summer or Cuyahoga Falls on 6/25! I'm from Ohio myself and was just in Perrysburg last weekend. Keep up the good work!
I was in the building for this show. Incredible night.
Lie in our graves FEAT Derek Trucks.
2nd best DMB performance for me, because of the restraint and how together they were.
Good recommendation.
Love love Love DMB!! Keep going....You and Me
Crash Into Me....Crush ❤
This entire album on bluray with top audio quality is like a religious experience.
Dave Matthews spent time in Africa in his childhood, Polo.
Definitely need to watch DONT DRINK THE WATER.
This song pulls some kinda wild ass emotions outta me. In a good way.
Dancing Nancies is one of my only non-metal/hard rock favorite songs of all time. Love the channel,my friend!
THANK YOU!!!! I love this. Thank you for taking the time to react to this. It made my year already man. If you wanna do another - warehouse - Piedmont park or two step - Piedmont park
I love this ...feeling...soaring.... praying....connecting with the Divine supreme almighty uncreated God
Song gives me chills every time
Dave is a one of kind. You are correct! " The stone" Charlie Rose interview should be yuor next
Good call.
You should check out the Dave Matthews band, don’t drink the water, live from Central Park from probably around the year 2004. That’s how you start a concert!
He is from South Africa - his mother told him to always keep the south african spirit in his music,
Warehouse live would be a great reaction
Dave é simplesmente sensacional!
I have never heard this. Thanks for letting me walk through your garden.
He's a pretty good actor too!😊
Ohhh how I love that man!!🔥🔥🔥
I read John Mayer say he could always anticipate the next chord in any song he heard except for a Dave Mathew’s song.
DMB is one of the most underrated greatest bands of all time and in extremely snobby with my music. Listen to their live. Particularly live at Red rocks "lie in our graves" "proudest monkey"
I highly reccomend you check out more from this specific performance. I have this on Blu Ray DVD & it is widely considered to be one of the top audio recordings available. I actually prefer listening to these two together without the rest of the band. As I'm sure you can hear for yourself, there is plenty to soak up & enjoy from just the two of them. There are at least a half dozen great tunes from this concert to check out including So Damn Lucky, Some Devil & Cornbread to name a few. I hope you'll do more from this concert. Thanks for the review.
For a tribal vibe check out “Don’t Drink the Water”. Powerful message and powerful song, in my top 10. I’d recommend reading the lyrics in advance. And though I’m sure others have recommended this, “Ants Marching” live Piedmont Park will make you a DMB fan for life.
Dave and Tim tapped into a some Divine frequencies on this incredible song…right into our souls ❤️
A perfect voice.
Brought tears to my eyes 🌹
It’s about damn time!
LETS GOOOOOOOO!
Doesnt get better than this.
Hell yeah dude. Good choice
Great performance
So glad you aren't getting dissuaded by negative reactions to the last reaction.
I very much appreciated your open mindedness. When you said in the opening it sounded tribal. A lot of David’s music has that type of sound to it. He grew up in South Africa and it really shaped him as a musician. If you listen to Eh Hee you can really hear it.He also played it during this Radio City show. He actually describes how he came about writing it based on a trip him and his family took to South Africa. You should definitely check it out! Welcome to the Firedancer Fam ❤❤
This was an amazing performance!!Gives me chills every time i hear it!!
Great version of Bartender! That entire concert is off the chain!! ✌🏻
Grey street definitely needs to be next! It's my favorite
Dave Matthews is a live band...mostly.
This was an acoustic version with Dave and Tim - fantastic. The whole band version of the song is amazing too.
Try any of their full band stuff, particularly the early stuff. On #41 you seemed to really appreciate the musicianship. I’ve seen enough of your content to know you have an ear for great musicianship and seem to enjoy it. These guys are talented and that’s undeniable, whether people like their music or not.
They have a top 5 drummer in the world. That alone gives them credence
Love your reactions! You gotta check out a live version of Crush or Ants Marching I feel like you would like those better.
Yessir!!❤💥💥
I've seen Dave 6 times and plan on more in the future. Always great shows. Great reaction Polo.
Moar Dave!!!
Dave is singing with such passion.
Glad you got to review this one. As one gets older, this song tends to hit home more and more. Having kids you want to be here with them as long as you can and this song is just him begging for more time and he used to never think about that, but now he does and wants to run and hide.
Live at Central Park
All Along The Watchtower
You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to check out this trak! Much appreciated!
I have been watching your reaction videos for some time now, but your kinetic device in the background really entertains my cat. Keep up the good work!
Wonderful reaction. Thank you.
I've never heard of Dave Matthews or any of his Fan base ever smoking weed😂❤
Not at all ever😂
I love how you stop the music and say what you liked about a certain lyric or rif, then play it again. Sometimes, I hear something different that I had never heard or thought of before. Thank you.
Gray Street is my favorite
"The Last Stop" is wild
Try "Dreaming Tree" or "Crush" for a couple of less well known, but great tunes.
wow - always loved early dave but never heard that one, thank you!
Bro, I’m so glad you have given DMB a chance. You should know LeRoy Moore (sax and woodwinds) passed away from injuries sustained from an ATV accident and Boyd Tinsley was let go due to moral issues (both broke my heart). Carter Beauford (drums) and Stefan Lessard (bass) are still original members. This band is amazing is so many ways. Please continue down this path and see why,
THANK YOU for watching this and talking about it. Think of the bartender as God
my favorite song was always the song "Jimi Thing" and it's even better hearing one of the good live versions
He’s a genius and all the best artists smoke weed!✌️😊🦋🧿
Trey Anastasio from Phish plays on the album Gravedigger was on.
Anything with Tim Reynolds is baller
