2024 I'm still so fascinated and so much joy in my heart to again and again watch all the very beautiful and inspiring videos of yours Dr. Brant Pitre,,, thank you so much sir, you are truly blessed to be our spiritual guide, you are truly a treasure to the Catholic faith!,, GOD BLESS! you and your beloved family,,, IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME! AMEN 🙏♥️🙏
Luke 24:30-35 Brought me back to the Catholic Church. "Breaking of the Bread,..their eyes opened and they recognized him but he had vanished" the Eucharist, is a "Portal" into eternity. Amen
Thank you Dr. Pitre for all your videos! This is why the Priest says "The mystery of faith." The Eucharist is truly, the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ being administered to us in the 21st century! That amazes me how Our Lord's sacrifice is transferred out of time and space (from Heaven) into time and space, during the Mass changing the bread and wine. So beautiful! I love being Catholic, thank you once again Dr. Pitre! Our Lord is beautiful and his mysteries inspire awe and wonder to which in our earthly minds we will never truly understand! Praise be Jesus Christ!
This calls to mind a passage from the Ordinary of the 1962 Missal that I use to follow along with the Latin Mass: “We most humbly beseech Thee, Almighty God, to command that these offerings be borne by the hands of Thy holy Angel to Thine altar on high in the sight of Thy Divine Majesty, that as many of us as at this altar shall partake of and receive the most holy Body and Blood of Thy Son, may be filled with every heavenly blessing and grace.”
I always wondered if it was a re-sacrifice at each mass and if so, how could that be. Thank you for clarifying. These videos are so helpful to me. Thank you for producing these.
@Catholics: Jesus is the Only Way It's not a resacrifice because the Victim is already slain; "Christ our Passover is slain>" St. Paul taught that in and by the Eucharist we "proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes again." That's what we offer to God: the death of His Son. From the very earliest records of Christians, they were keeping the Eucharist and bringing it to the sick who couldn't attend Mass. They also were handed on the faith, not us. They held and taught that the Eucharist becomes the Eucharist by the blessing St. Paul spoke about to the Corinthians-"the words set down by Him." You are departing from the faith once delivered to the saints-which is not reading the Bible and gleaning what you will. The Bible is only for those who have the faith. Not to reconstruct it fallibly and claim the Holy Ghost approves of their interpretation! What foolishness is that?
Melissa - you would have heard that from Protestants. It's one of their weapons of attack but sadly, they are ignorant of the facts (I know because I used to be one!)
I too have always wondered how Jesus' death has made it possible for me to be forgiven. This helped me understand better what Jesus has done, and is doing, for me (us). And the explanation that our celebration of the Eucharist is not repeating the sacrifice, but participating in the once and for all sacrifice is helpful. Thank you.
Excellent explanation of the Eucharistic presence in the Mass and how it transcends time. I always envision the heavens opening above the altar in church so we are in communion with the angels and saints during the consecration at Mass. It's the one place where heaven touches Earth and I get a glimpse of God. One day I pray to see the beatific vision. God bless you Dr. Pitre
Amazing exegesis Dr. Pitre! Thank you for another faith-filled, intelligible explanation on Christ’s Ascension that has helped me deepen my faith. May God continue to bless you in your ministry in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
Tomorrow is The Feast of The Ascension....I thank you for such a clear evangelization of Jesus, High Priest always. Attending Mass tomorrow will be much more enlightening and full of joy and love for our High Priest, Jesus Christ in heaven. Thank you Dr. Pitre.
The simple clarity of the way our eternal high priest acts in eternity on our behalf, and radiates throughout time and space was outstanding. So good - it got me, as a lector, to subscribe to Dr. Petri's Mass Readings series. Wonderful stuff!
Excellent explanation of how we, through the holy sacrifice of the mass, participate, in communion with Jesus Christ, in his eternal and perpetual offering of Himself to the Father in atonement for our sins. Thank-you.
*Thank you Dr. Brant Pitre, for your videos which always feed my faith and reason on Catholicism.* *I really wish I learned more about my Catholic Faith. Where shall I start?*
A few resources; the Bible, the early Church Fathers, and the Catechism are all good places to start. Pray for a closer conversion to Christ every day and He will guide you. :)
Just imagining what he has done for us is beyond recognition he has taken us with him to be forever in him for he loved us without fear but love in the truest sense that he gave himself up to feed his sheep and guide his sheep. May God glorifying his son Jesus Christ forever and forever!!!!!!
I've always thought of God in Heaven and eternity as standing outside our 4 dimensional space and looking at all our past history and future as a single tapestry laid out before him. He can see everything at once. Therefore all the eucharistic sacrifices, past and present, would be as one, at the same "time" by Jesus for the Father.
I had always thought the eternal sacrifice of Christ was able to be made present again in our altars because Jesus being the 2nd person of the Blessed Trinity and therefore is eternal by His nature? Not bound by time He can make present His Sacrifice whenever He wants?
Dr. Pitre, I’m sure you’ve spoken about this somewhere or written about it in one of your books, but I have to ask for your expertise. I was praying the rosary and meditating on the ascension when it suddenly hit me (the Holy Spirit at work) that Jesus was taken up into Heaven in a cloud. Would this be a parallel to the glory cloud of the Old Testament that covered the Tent of Meeting? Or a nice bookend to the fact that Jesus came into this world when the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary (think shekinah) and He departs this world by ascending back into Heaven in a cloud? You probably don’t manage the comments on these videos and may never see this but to whomever runs this channel, could you please pass along this question? I’m dying to know. God bless!
In any case all such analogies/mental constructs aid to further our Faith. So long as your thoughts don’t contradict or eliminate any of the witnessed events and fundamental Church teachings, your surmise/insights are as good as that of other members of the church.
You state in this video that Christ enters to make the sacrifice with the body with His wounds. But when is His body glorified as in the Transfiguration? When does this glorification occur? Christ would not have wounds in His glorified body, correct? I thought the glorification occurred right after the Ascension.
His glorified body still has wounds, which is why doubting Thomas could touch the hole on his side. Yet at the same time, Jesus can appear and disappear miraculously, since His body is not bound by physical limitations. So, Christ had a glorified body which also had wounds St. Bede says on Luke 24:40 that He kept His scars not from inability to heal them, “but to wear them as an everlasting trophy of His victory.”
@@CatholicDwong Yes, but Christ stated "Do not touch me because I have not yet ascended to the Father. At the Transfiguration, it does not state that Christ has wounds. So, therefore, I am not certain that wounds are part of His glorified body, although He may show them to us sometimes for the purpose of letting us know who He is.
Only Luke says Jesus was "carried up" or "taken up" and disappeared (Luke 24:51, Acts 1:9). According to John 21:25 Jesus did "many other things" with no definite end in sight. According to Matthew Jesus said "I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world". And most scholars agree, the ending of Mark is a forgery. So what really happened to the body ?
@po18guy The trouble with the metaphysical realm is that it is beyond the reach of science. As we all know, God lives outside space and time and sits on a golden throne. And Jesus stands or sits on his right hand, allegedly. Ooh, painful. (Acts 7:56, Colossians 3:1)
@po18guy I've just had confirmation that Jesus also has a throne and he sits on it. Not only that, but the 12 disciples also sit on 12 thrones ! Read all about it in my latest report (Matthew 19:28)
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent murderous attack in Nova Scotia (Canada), and other heartbreaking tragedies and prevalent death and sufferings in the world, let's all have a beacon of hope in Jesus Christ. Remember the words of The Living Christ according to John @ which is a powerful statement of God's love to the world. Christ is the only human being who has ever lived understands our deepest sorrow and pains than any other human being that ever been born. It is said of Him by a prophet named Alma that "Christ shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith He will take upon Him the pains and the sicknesses of His people. And He will take upon Him death, that He may loose the bands of death which bind His people; and He will take upon Him their infirmities, that His bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that He may know according to the flesh how to succor His people according to their infirmities. The Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that He might take upon Him the sins of His people, that He might blot out their transgressions according to the power of His deliverance." The Apostle Paul stated "for to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that He might be Lord both of the dead and living” (Romans 14:9 KJV) and because of Him, we can have eternal life. See also this amazing video @
You need to start from the basics. As a sneak peek: there cannot be any better sacrifice human can offer to God other than God-incarnate human become the sacrificial lamb.
This passage should shut down the holy mass which is called the sacrifice by the Romans which is worthless and unholy. Going further the scripture Paul says Jesus by doing this sacrifice has freed us from all dead works(like eucharist, mass and other worthless things of the man made traditions) Hebrews 9:14 [14]how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Jesus Christ has completed His work as a Mediator. There is no more a Mediator.
How did it happen? Did Jesus literally float up into the clouds? Nobody explains this. Everyone simply waffles and pontificates and it is infuriating. This clip was just babble. Stop speaking as if you know what happened and why. So Jesus body is in heaven where there are no other physical entities? This is a very dangerous issue for Christians who rush to long winded rheology which ultimately means nothing. The arrogance is astonishing. Jesus floated into space That is harder to believe than the resurrection.
Lack of complete faith in the omnipotence of God, and lack of full trust in the integrity of the witnesses made many to reject the Truth. The root cause is that despite God evolved minds of us in tandem with globalization and Information explosion, men are reluctant to raise the limit on Omnipotence in their mind. In other words, despite God is the only reality and everything else are His live works (=creation), they are reluctant to accept that ALL we observe is what we are ‘gifted’ to observe. So in nut shell, His disciple literally saw Jesus’ ascension. Some can’t even imagine that simply because they are not even given the faith that God is the only reality, the reason for this abandonment, as we know, is our sin (that include not even sincerely trying to seek the truth of the notion God).
So Jesus died, came back and then disappeared into outer space. How did he get up there please. Also what happened to all the other people who came out of their graves when Jesus died. What happened to them please.
@Catholics: Jesus is the Only Way How do you know that,? It has never been shown to be true.
