It may sound odd, but I got a “visit” from a spirit who took the form of an African man in his 50s, his aura made me feel like he was from the time when jazz was just starting to fruition. Had a “smell” of tobacco, liquor and a hard to pin down floral scent that hid within the background. He politely informed me that what I was doing was not my culture, and that I would find trouble benefiting from it. I’ve now had great success reading myself with standard playing cards, sometimes I feel him check in on me. He is very light and was nice enough to not be rude when I was stepping into his culture as he seems to understand the art of blissful ignorance lol. Thank you for helping me out! I believe his name is Baron but I cannot remember his last name, he did tell me though I just cannot recall. This was one of my first encounters where it felt extremely powerful, but human and not something more or obscure or animalistic/multi-charactered
Yes, the careful reminder to practice cultural appreciation and not let it become appropriation. As soon as you start to use the skills to benefit you as in make money and therefore strip resources away from the people of the culture, then he may not be too happy. Within the Voodoo traditions there are several Baron's (title not name). Maybe go through them and see if any ring a bell.
Thanks by your answer. Sometimes you find an attachment to certain spirits "feel good with them" but not feeling you are going anywhere with.
Yes, it might just be because they don't have anything to offer at that time.

Have a merry Yule
And to you, hope you have a good Yule and new year
Thank you!
