    I am no longer in any denomination. I sympathize with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but I grew up in Church of God ( Anderson) and I thank God for it's good principles that prepared me for a real spiritual and biblical view of life.
    Peace and blessings in Iyesus Kristos our Lord.

      @@redbluffhomestead5293 it was my understanding that Church of God and Church of God of Prophecy only split because Church of God wanted a new general overseer so Tomlinson took some of the members and started Church of God of prophecy, that's also how some other Splinter groups came into being, they're actually a few Splinter groups with the general overseers name as part of the official title, so most of their differences are not theological in nature, they're just who gets to be in charge

    Summary notes, CoG beliefs:
    1. One church, belong by salvation.
    2. Know that saved because saved by grace.
    3. God can do more than forgive sin. He came free us from its power. He can sanctify us.
    4. God is our final authority in what we believe and how we live.
    5. Christian unity is found in Christ, not anything else, such as denomination.
    6. God cares about the whole person, soul and body. Therefore divine healing is available here and now.
    7. Jesus Christ is the foundation of all we do and believe. We proclaim him, him crucified, and him resurrected.

    This speaker is causing some misunderstanding because he is NOT strongly making the point that he is speaking of the Anderson In. Church of God which is NOT pentecostal in practice. When one merely says "Church of God", one usually thinks of the Cleveland, Tn. Church of God which IS pentecostal and is also a much larger group than the Anderson In. church to which the speaker is referring. Incidentally, there are many church groups that have "Church of God" either in part or wholly as their name.

      Part of the confusion is that because many people in the state legislature are members of the Church of God they were essentially given a franchise in the state of tennessee, meaning that technically they're the only ones legally allowed to use that title but only in tennessee, every other place in the world it's a different story, and they were all kinds of denominations and non-denominational churches with the same name, after the fact that what was one denomination is now about seven, due to splits mainly of a procedure on nature and not theological, it gets even more complicated

    Our Church does not use hymnals anymore. I think the churches founder Daniel Warner would be very disappointed. The church of God claims to be non denominational but yet they sing the modern day song's of Hillsong, Bethel Church, Jesus Culture, and Elevation worship, and these churches have deeply flawed theology and doctrine. It is acrying shame that The Church of God is not setting a better example for the rest of the denominational churches by not singing songs from those churches or artists which do not have sound beliefs.

    • @onamattapeeya
      @onamattapeeya 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And you don't think that that is sort of petty? Things like what songs to sing or how to dress or how to decorate your Chapel are all optional things that don't have a direct impact on theology or doctrine, whether it is a choir or an organ or a contemporary set up, whatever kind of music an individual Church wants to use is completely acceptable,

      @@christincommon5496 theology isn't supposed to be in music LOL my statement stands, little petty things like what kind of music to play or what translation to read or how to decorate your Chapel is all optional stuff that people can do however they want to, there is no individual or governing body on Earth that has the authority to tell people what they can and can't do in their individual church, I know there are groups that claim such power such as the papacy or the Church of God General Assembly but they only claim Authority they don't actually have any, also someone can be a good Christian and not have to be a religious zealot or a superstitious fool, so if someone wants to be a monk then good for them but that's not going to work for everyone, it's also doesn't work for everyone to run every single thing they do everyday through a what would Jesus do filter, Jesus doesn't care if you go to Kentucky Fried Chicken or Chick-fil-A

    • @christincommon5496

      @@onamattapeeya unfortunately many “Christians” who don’t read their Bibles get their theology from the pseudo worship music.
      If we understand worship, it is for God, not for us. The me-centered Nonsense so popular today is pretty much self-centered non-worship.
      But yes I agree that one person should not dictate what everyone does. We should all know God well enough to know what He wants and proceed accordingly.

      Bible says that Jesus Christ is God and that Jesus Christ is the Creator and that Jesus Christ is the word. The Bible says that wisdom is like our sister our nearest kin is how we should view wisdom as wisdom is experience and knowledge and understanding. The holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus Christ who is God living within us also known as the Lord of hosts. As far as I know the Bible does not say that God is a woman or that the holy spirit is a woman or that Jesus is a woman even if they are three different beings and as far as I know according to the Bible they are one God it is one being.

    I just left the Methodist Church because they do not have any authority of what to believe nor any desire to get to God’s truth when there is disagreement (which requires authority).
    Came here looking for the one true church.
    He said that the word of God is the final authority. And then talked about how COG interprets the Bible. He is teaching by Tradition without any Authority.
    So far Catholic Church seems to have the very best system by taking into account Sacred Scripture (primary) AND Sacred Tradition - passing down the interpretations of how to live out Sacred Scripture as it has been held from the very earliest days of Christianity (before people started messing with doctrines). It depends on the Magisterium (priests and Bishops) to hammer out any changes to doctrine. These changes happen VERY SELDOM! Which makes sense if it is the TRUTH!
    I encourage you to get the Catholic Catechism and check it all out for yourself. This document combines Sacred Scripture and Tradition into a beautiful document so that you know exactly what the church believes.

    When you read the books of the New Testament you have probably asked yourself many times: "Why is it that for 2000 years we have not seen the miracles that accompanied the Church of Christ in the first century as the New Testament describes them? Why is it that so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed, while atheists have the audacity to deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Church of Christ ceased to exist after the first century. There is no Church as it is described in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other Christian sects, claiming to be the Church, but not having that one thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic only for the Church of Christ - the backing of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mk 16:15-20). That is why part of the researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and part of them do not mind to declare Him a real person, but an ordinary philosopher, a teacher. But even if Jesus was an ordinary philosopher, His disciples would have been ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not have dared to write about the miracles that not only Jesus but also His disciples could perform. If in our time there were a Church as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed - healing the sick, prophesying, raising the dead - no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then all over the world there would be the same disputes as in the first century - Jesus is the Son of God or a false prophet who seduces the world with miracles.
    Find on youtube the message *"The Mystery of the Church of Christ"* . It reveals the prophecy of the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the End of the World, giving hope to all who are sincerely seeking God and who are not lazy to think freely.

      There are some Pentecostal denominations that are ''Jesus Only'' which almost all mainstream denomination teach is false doctrine and a misunderstanding of the God in scripture. But ''oneness'' is not a doctrine in mainstream Pentecostal denominations. Think when Jesus was baptized the Father speaks from heaven, the Spirit is desending in the air, and Jesus is in the water so God as we know Him was in three different spaces and forms at the same time. A lot of church won't tell you they believe Jesus isn't God but you find that in certain cults but occasionally it's is believed and taught in mainstream churches sadly.

What you do instead is plead the blood confess your sin and plead the blood and ask him to help you try again even if the sin is rebellion do not let Satan condemn you for it being the sin of rebellion rebellion is definitely something you do not want to be stuck in however rebellion is a sin in God's blood can cover it if you ask him to help you stop you can even tell him you don't want to stop in to help him help you want to want to stop it that'll work too.

      D. S. Warner, the founder of this movement, taught a sin-free life after salvation. Someone asked him the same question about rebaptism. Here is the question and response from D. S. Warner:
      If a person has been baptized and falls away from grace, when he gets back, must he be baptized again?
      Your brother,
      R. H. Owens
      If a person is simply overthrown of Satan, but never gives up Christ to live in sin, such need not be re-baptized. But if they cast away all faith and profession and go back to live in sin, they undo their baptism and everything, and on being restored should do their first works and be baptized.

    Obviously I truly loved the Church of God however as of now and I don't know if I actually will be I am not stirred corrected yet that you have to speak in tongues in order to be aware that you have the indwelling of the holy Spirit. Other than that the rest of their core beliefs the five core beliefs that are different the rest of them other than the Tums then all the other Christians I agree with because of what the Bible says and only because of what the Bible says.

      What I meant to say is awesome now and I have yet to be stood corrected when I say that you do not have to speak in tongues in order to know that you have the holy ghost in order to know you have the holy ghost is if you have it. Speaking in tongues is only one of the ways and not everybodyhas been able to speak in tongues even though they can because they have the holy ghost.

    “Unity is found in Jesus”
    But it isn’t. We have thousands of denominations. That isn’t unity. If there is ONE God there should be ONE Truth. In order to have one truth there HAS to be an authority. The Bible can’t be that authority - on what authority did it create itself? The Catholic Church is the authority who defined the Cannon we take for granted as Scripture.

    • @PatrickSteil
      @PatrickSteil 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnH204 I don’t think you understood the role of the Pope. The person of the Pope doesn’t define Truth. The position of the Pope along with the magisterium AND Sacred Scripture and most importantly Sacred Tradition defines Truth. Today’s Pope cannot change any teaching of the Catholic Church that has been true for 2000+ years. I have witnessed many Catholic priests and Bishops including our local Priest say this exactly so I am not worried.
      How do you depend on any other church to profess “The Truth”?

    • @JohnH204
      @JohnH204 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatrickSteil I depend on God's Word the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit. Not a confusing system of Pope / magisterium / scripture and tradition. If the Pope is chosen by divine inspiration of the Papal conclave why do they so consistently make terrible choices...? The RCC dramatically overhauled their practice and doctrine after Vatican Council 2.0. so the idea that it can not change is patently false.

    • @PatrickSteil

      @@JohnH204 Sorry for the late reply, lol.
      You depend on the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit. But that Holy Bible tells us that the Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth. It never tells you to depend on the Bible Alone - that is a man made invention. It is false and it is what has caused you to have your beliefs, to disagree with so many other "Christians" and think that that is ok.
      If there is ONE God who is the author of the ONE Truth, there should be ONE Church. I would encourage you to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church - it is the most beautiful doctrinal work I have ever seen. It is amazing.

    The fact that they have no official creed immediately will bring about division because if no one can speak on behalf for what the church of God believes then anyone can develop a belief and claim it to be church of God and it will of necessity bring about division. The fact that he is presenting beliefs of the church of God is showing that they do have a creed, it's just not written but oral. He also doesn't seem to understand that the church of God has separated themselves because he says "here are the baptists, methodists, presbyterians; why don't we just be one body?" He doesn't seem to understand that the baptists are one body, the methodists also and so are the presbyterians. If they have no core set of doctrines with which to align themselves, and a creed just lays it out on paper, then there will be people who will come to different conclusions.
