- Wild Camping on top of a Hill in a Vintage, Vango Force Ten Tent ! Renowned for their robustness in stormy mountain weather conditions a chance to test out and review before taking the tent to the mountains. it performed superbly ! With a wonderful sunset and sunrise before a cooked camp breakfast i really enjoyed this adventure. Tent model is Vango Force Ten Mk3 CN early1980s vintage A frame Expedition Tent, with a nylon flysheet in excellent condition.

An enjoyable hike/camp. Very nice to be able to see the sunset and sunrise from here. With your descriptions of the inside of the tent, I might have thought you were staying in a 4-star hotel. I was feeling envy at the experience. Thank you for this and have a wonderful day.

But this tent ⛺️ is a venerable old bit of kit made back in 1970 (heavy and bulky but the smell of canvas while you sleep is amazing) appreciate as always you tuning in (thank you 🙏🏼)

Yes your right the Old Vango force ten was a bomb proof tent ⛺️ back in the day for mountain work (the fly could do with a reproof now though 😊)

The old Force Ten did well too for a 50 year old veteran (they used to use these on Everest 🏔️ expeditions back in the day (just shows how things have moved on mate )

But yes the force 10 is reliable but heavy and bulky but worth it when you know your going to hit heavy weather ⛺️
It’ll soon be time to get it out (winter is coming ❄️🌬)

If you pack light everything and just use outdoor clothes, you can have your pack weight down to about 25KG with all of your food and kit. It is the most stable tent I have ever camped in and certainly the most comfortable. It will put up with any weather when pitched properly and for extended nasty spells too. The inside makes it's own distinctive noises in the wind and the cotton inner keeps it cool in summer and lovely and warm for winter use. It is a tent for life!! Keep guylines attached for the front and rear; you never know what will happen; and it takes the strain off the frame and "A" couplings. You don't want the frame rocking in the wind; that also puts strain on the tent material.

I admire your courage and stamina to backpack with what is now a heavy tent in comparison with modern lightweights. As a lad in the Scouts I would have hiked and camped several times with one but now such tent is confined to base camp car camping and it is a Hilleberg that straps to the side of my rucksac over the hills.

As for advise I would say definitely spend a night in the garden or a camp site and use the exact load out (tent, cook system, backpack ect) go for a short hike with it ! sleep the night exactly as you would on The hills or forests so you know where everything is how it works and feels and also then you know it all works before to get too far from civilisation so to speak.
