    just picked up my 87 944S and drove it home 5 hours. Even though there are issues to sort out I had an absolute blast driving it. Cruise control works great. Pulls strong even in 5th gear, despite having ancient spark plug wires. Love the responsiveness of the throttle, brakes and steering. Love the austerity and quality of the interior. Drove it alongside my 94 BMW 840, and the 944 got all the looks.

    You've basically bought the exact level of 944 I'm looking for right now! A couple of little scrapes so you're not afraid to use it, but mechanically sound and with some nice little bonuses. I'd like a black interior, but otherwise, very jealous! Keep the vids coming, they're very helpful!

      Ah! Great stuff! Hope you manage to find one. Great great cars. Yeh, my turbo had a black interior, I didn't mind it but do prefer the lighter cooler as it makes it feel a bit more spacious. I still have lots of niggles to sort but getting there slowly. It's a bit difficult this time of year with poor weather etc. Hope you manage to find something, keep us updated here! Cheers.

    Hi Damo I have a black 944 s2 a 1992 registered bridge spoiler model, owned it for 9 1/2 years, its been side lined due to a head gasket failure over a year ago!
    Your video was a tonic for me.
    I have been amassing tools and parts to fix my car. I have also had a 924 lux 2.0 which I loved.
    I too looked to the 3.2 boxster S and amusingly I really like the rainforest green with tan interior aesthetic! Keep the 944 videos coming thank you!

      Ha ha. Love it. I didn't mind the Boxster colour that much. It was certainly rare but did look like a british racing green copy. Shame about your S2. Hopefully you can sort it soon. There will definitely be more 944 vids coming. I've done a few of the niggle fixing so hopefully a video about those will be out soon. Cheers and thanks for watching.

    Love my 944S2 Cab - had him for 15 years now & will never sell, just too much fun. Mine has the 17" CUP wheels from a 968, teardrop mirrors & the clock is just as foggy as yours :-)

      Oh brilliant. I do like the cup wheels and the 968 mirrors. Nice upgrades to keep the car fresh. My clock I can no longer report is foggy or dull. It now works amazingly and is illuminated! More project 944 updates will be coming to the channel on 23rd Jan. Thanks for watching. Cheers.

    Hi! Do you know if and how this immobilizer can be deactivated ? Such a device once kept me off purchasing a 968. Thanks for sharing what you might know about this topic. Best 928, 944 and 968 wishes from Taiwan

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, not sure to be honest. I'm sure anything is possible. You just need to find someone who's capable enough to do it. Or just buy a new immobiliser key if you have the code for it. Thanks for watching.

    I don't know if it was a variation for American models, but there are four more parking lights on mine, on the sides. I think they look good, and turn on with the fog lights as well.

      There are lots of differences in the lights for the US models...... the Federally mandated orange side marker lights are just one. The US cars use the double sized lights next the the registration plate a brake/stop lights, in all other markets they are fog lights......etc.....

    What is the red light you can see on the console flashing next to the gear stick?

    • @damos_cars

      Immobilser

    • @jamescruickshank1489
      @jamescruickshank1489 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@damos_cars My 944s2 has a draw on the battery and it lost a volt in one week when the car is not running. The light flashes when the car is running. The central locking doesn't work. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out the draw is coming from. Should the red light be flashing when the engine is running? The switch next to it with the key legend on it does nothing. What's going on here?

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamescruickshank1489 sounds like you have a few things going on. I don’t have the 944 anymore but from what I recall the immobiliser light would stop flashing when running. Do you have or use an immobiliser sounds like you don’t in which case the old light still flicking could be culprit but it would take ages to drain a battery. The central locking most commonly likely to be the control unit (cigarette sized box clips under steering column) or the door rods (see my other vid for how to change those). Other culprits could be the stereo, under bonnet light remaining on or boot light. One way to check is to measure the amperage at the battery and remove each fuse one at a time to see which one causes a change. Good luck 🤞.

    didn't the last 944S2's come with airbag steering wheels....?

    • @damos_cars

      They did but I don't think for the UK market, US only. Even the first UK 968s didn't come with airbags...

  • @lwwells
    @lwwells 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That was an original steering wheel for 1990 in the UK? In the US, they all had airbag wheels from 1987 on.

      @@damos_cars You saved 50-100lbs! For this reason, i think the 1986 944 turbos were the best in the US. They were pre-airbags and pre-ABS. They were significantly lighter and had a more attractive steering wheel and a deeper rear wheel offset.
