This has to be one of if not my favorite transformers design ever I love this guy whenever I was watching the show all I wanted to do was help him.... He desperately needs a masterpiece figure

Good video. to explain the jet mode (and by this logic ALL weird flying modes), it isn't aerodynamic because it is instead astrodynamic. There is no air or water resistance in space, so aerodynamicness is only relevant while escaping the atmosphere

I don't know if you know this but he does actually have an unofficial city mode. Have you ever wondered why there were gun like parts molded into the scorpion head? From what I have found Hasbro/Takara stopped at this point because costs were getting too high which is a real shame since that would have made an even better homage to the original. Scorponok in the show was originally going to be a lot bigger and have troops come out of him to fight the enemy
I honestly didn't see the point of flying modes in Energon, since in that show the transformers with land-based alt modes can also fly, which kinda defeats the purpose of flight modes.
my only possing issues are in the hips. The arms for what the figure is make sence to me and thats why the back end claws reach out. This is a great figure who can be fanmoded to no end. Great review
This toy is awesome because it has so many options, I've found a way to go halfway between the jet and robot mode and created a jet-wyvern-like thing. It's about as much fun as my T-Rex mode for BM Blastcharge.

Otherwise, the Dark Scorponok repcolor from the Cybertron line is the same but with a key slot added, making it the only toy in the Unicron Trilogy compatible with all three main gimmicks - Minicons, Energon Chips, and Cyber Keys.
I had this toy as a kid and I loved it so much I literally played with it till it broke and even after that I kept the broken arm and would use it for my other toys like any piece that would break off that I couldn't glue back on it has now become a weapon or accessory for a different toy I loved that thing when I was a kid
good review but mistransformations in every mode: scorpion- bring the feet from robot mode up to resemble tank tracks more (also enables it to roll without it getting caught), stinger comes down jet mode- spin the engines around so that the intakes are at the front robot mode- leave the pieces that attach to the fuselage of the jet in the same position except bringing pieces that make the front of the scorpion out 1 notch. this makes it look more like it did in the cartoon and waaaay better
this mold was used for Cybertron Dark Scorponok with Animatron Planet Key, Botcon Double Punch and G1 Scorponok with Headmaster Olin Zarak for BotCon 2014
I agree Scorponok looks menacing just standing there. I also wish he never died in the show- he was a good guy in truth. Sadly my Scorponok's arms broke he's still usable but his arms keep falling off. when I first got him at a flee market I thought he was Megatron. I also didn't know he had heals and a scorpion mode until I watched a review of him- even how I had the jet-mode was wrong! lol
Scorponok's "arm bits" are just the head, one of the only two sections of an arachnid's body, which are the head and abdomen, the tail counts as part of the abdomen. Yeah Science!
Trident Silver I have the figure in front of me right now and no it doesn't. Energon didn't have any figures with Minicon activated gimmicks. They just had plugs to put them on.
It does look like his a triple changer seeing as how triple changers compensate for an entire a whole normal jet or whatever the hell the other vehicle mode he uses parts from both to make two different vehicles
1: Jet mode can fly by rule of cool 2: You forgot to fold down the claw like pieces on the knees for robot mode 3: No mention of the blasters on the sides of the legs or how the hand cannons can slide back and forth
i remember my friend had him but the yellow see through pieces were red...was it a differemt version? everytime i was at his house id spend HOURS trying to transform it. i would get close but the tail always made me think i messed up
I do find it annoying that the engines are backwards though. Also, you have to be very careful ful when messing with those pieces that the front of the scorpion mode folds in on. I know this because mine broke one day when I was trying to move it around.
This is miles better than the one from '07 Transformers Scorponok,if Michael wanted to put him there,make so he transforms into a robot,not keep him into a dumb scorpion mode

I've got the Dark Scorponok version of this guy. One of my fave Transformers i have.
Scorponok's vehicle mode is something a child would come up with which is what makes him great.
Jet mode is IN THE SHOW. And it's Awesome!!! (I mean this figure pulls it off better than some of the Blitzwings did! XD)

Energon scorponok was also in bot on as pirate scorponok. It’s colors are the g1 colors and he’s also a headmaster.

Amber You can get better arm possibility by transforming his shoulders like you do for jet mode, which while not accurate still looks good.

I think the gun gimmick on his tail is meant to only work with a Minicon like on Cybertron Menasor's right arm. If so, you may have broken this now.

No, he just had his finger in the way the first time. The Minicon port on the tail isn't active.

If yo keep his shoulder pads in the position for the jet mode then you can use his joints for a decent shoulder.

Scorponok was a bad ass character in the show so it would only be fitting if he had a bad ass toy to go with
I got this figure at botcon, still had the tab in it. The lights and sounds aren't all that impressive, but still nice.
