  • Hi everyone!
In this video I take you on a tour of some of my Astrophytum.
Most of the plants you will see, I grew from seed originally.
They are all hybrids, I do not grow pure species Astrophytum.
    Hope you enjoy the video.

Wow, what a beautiful collection. I'm just getting started with Astrophytum (all from seed) and have a number of fairly small seedlings, and right now just one grafted seedling that has done very well. One question - you mentioned you don't like using buried stock. I was wondering this is just a personal choice or if there are some technical disadvantages to using this technique. I've just buried my first stock because the Trichocereus Taquimbalensis scion had grown too big for the Pereskiopsis stock to support it. I know that's somewhat different from your situation, but I'm keeping a close eye on it in case the stock rocks or something else goes wrong.

If buried stock dies, you will only know when the scion is well past dead.
If stock is exposed and starts to die, you can, more often than not save the scion.
That is the reason I don't use it.
