    Thanks for bringing this back. I have fond memories of it.

    Thanks for the video intro it looks like a simple elegant app. Just installed on Linux Mint as a flathub (easy!). I have experience with the GTD methodology and aim to send in feedback & comments on the recommended channels. I first saw this on another Linux related YT channel recently (The Linux Experiment). Good luck with the project!

    Nice! Been waiting for something like this for sooo long! Thanks for making it awesome and FOSS as well!

    Heard about that on Linux unplugged, nice work! I'm going to try it ASAP 😉

    This is a great app. Every Linux user should have it!

    I agree with the reasons you gave for wanting to use FOSS, but I don't think it's appropriate for this video. If anything, it should at least be moved to the end instead of the start of the video (or preferably removed for its own video). Thanks for maintaining this software, hope it's compatible with Online Accounts :)

    Why I love the TaskPaper format

    Just found a article about it, make a integration with on keep or task warrior and I'm in.

    Amazing Project! I didn't know it exists.
    It is just sad that is only a local task manager 😑

      Well, not only were there synch plugins in the past (they need new people to maintain them), but there are also people working on some all new synchronization plugins right now, which would allow talking to other platforms (I'm not making hard promises, but there might be some interesting stuff coming up). In any case, more help is always welcome.

      @@JeffFortinTam Unfortunately I don't have a know how yet to help. However i will wait for wait and using it reporting bugs in case i find them. Great Project 🤙💪

    How about a task being a blocker for multiple tasks?

    • @JeffFortinTam
      @JeffFortinTam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd like to have that too, and I think liblarch allows this, but the problem is... how do you represent this visually in a Gtk Treeview? If you have ideas on how to solve this from a UI perspective, I'd be curious to hear them, feel free to open a ticket then ;)

    When I am on my way, I send me a mail as task.
    in Thunderbird, just a right-click on the message can convert it as a task.
    It should be fine if a workflow could continue from Thunderbird to GTG, retreiving automatically the Thunderbird's tasks...

    • @JeffFortinTam
      @JeffFortinTam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would probably need to write a Thunderbird plugin that talks to GTG over DBus (unless Thunderbird has an API or some way to access its tasks over DBus, in which case you could probably write a plugin for GTG!)

      @@JeffFortinTam ok, fine.
      I will try to do that.
      Need some research before to find the right way.

    - I miss the recurring tasks / duplicating a task with a different due date e.g.
    - my second problem is that, one cannot see the project-structure of the completed tasks.
    (currently I am using todo.txt-based app, and I am unhappy with it when I have a large todo list, that is why looking on this app)

    • @JeffFortinTam
      @JeffFortinTam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Recurring tasks are coming in the next release, check out this blog post: fortintam.com/blog/spooky-gtg-features-to-try-for-halloween-2020/
      As for the hierarchical structure of completed tasks: that'd be hard to do considering that you usually complete only one subtask at a time, and eventually clear your completed tasks entirely. That said, you can open any closed task and then use the "Open parent" button to reveal the structure...

    so, I installed the flatpak. How do I start the actual application?

    • @JeffFortinTam
      @JeffFortinTam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay, and I suppose you have figured this out since then: when you install the Flatpak application, it should show up in your menus (or GNOME Shell launchers) like any regular installed application. In the case of GNOME Shell, you might need to reload it or logout/login for the changes to be visible.

      @@JeffFortinTam after some googling I used a flatpak command (forgot which, on a different computer right now) to run it and made an alias. now I just type gtg and it works ;)

    Any change to make it run nativity on macOS and windows like GIMP?

    • @JeffFortinTam
      @JeffFortinTam  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We focused on getting it back on track and out of the door, and I don't think any of us run those other platforms, but if someone would like to join the project to work on this, the help would be welcome! Without someone new focusing on that while we maintain the core offering, it would be unlikely to happen.

    jumped on the program didn't think much of it. I think you need to start to get on GTK4 as well. I liked how your trailer put python 2 to bed but lets start actually making the program more fluid. your natural language stuff is easily coded, maybe the gnome project need to get their hands on some kind of natural language model so that apps can just intuitive know what they are asking for or doing...
    lastly do look into server-side/infrastructure. if the end user has access to their own servers or a company they can place the correct software there. lastly your allow for heirachies why not allow users to choose to have their "notes" viewable in there file systems and they select a note in there file system in opens the GTG viewer... you are using markdown right?
