    In the end, the event organizers made a mistake by not telling the players they were playing Classic Score Attack in the Finals. It's a shame because the players had the potential to go the distance and make it an exciting match. They just needed a bit of practice on Classic Tetris. Instead, the players were practicing Modern Tetris before their Match.
    P.S. That was a great way to incorporate a sponsorship into a video

    • @pl_skelly3046

      They also made a mistake by putting it on an arcade cabinet. Classic Tetris (or classic score attack) isn't played on arcade cabinet. It's played on PC (Classic Score Attack only) or console (both)

  • @justinbchen
    @justinbchen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +83

    My completely honest guess is that the organizers saw "Classic Score Attack," just assumed that that was the normal basic version of Tetris, and ran with that without digging any deeper.
    In my limited experience watching Twitch Rivals, the events tend to be incredibly scuffed and poorly organized. My only surprise is that this even carries over to their live events.

This year we had already 5 of them (located in Brzeg near Wroclaw, Poznan, Warsaw, Krakow and Gorzow Wlkp) and have three more on the way (Gliwice in Silesia region, Bydgoszcz, and Poznan again). Anyone is welcome.
      There is too little 300k+ PB players in the country to have more than one "big tournament" a year per version.
      More experienced players if they appear, serve there as mentors/coaches and occasionally clash in some showcase matches.
      For a country which never had an official NES/NEStris release and which despite that managed to be 2nd biggest regional community (by active players)... it's something.

    11:30 - I can guess what Myth was thinking with the L piece - Because in Tetris and things similar to Tetris that's something I do... Annoyingly frequently. Misread a piece's handedness and try and rotate it into somewhere that it's never going to fit because it would need a flip rather than a rotate to slot in there, and there's a really neat place to slot a J in.
    The thing that I can't help but compare this format to is the German gameshow Schlag den Henssler (Formerly Schlag den Raab), a monthly live event where a competitor takes on Steffan Henssler (formerly Stefan Raab) in a series of games, which can be literally anything (American Football penalty shootout? They've done that. Horseshoes? It was an absolute disaster and the game was declared a tie after an hour with neither contestant nor Raab scoring. Trivia? Various formats of trivia are common. Wheelie bin races where you're only allowed to move the wheelie bin by walking on it's wheels? Sure, why not. Adding up two 30 digit numbers? Weirdly watchable, particularly since an incorrect answer forfeited the game). First event is worth 1 point, 2 points for the second, and a maximum of 15 points for the 15th event. As soon as a result is inevitable the show ends (61 points), and if the scores are tied after 15 events a final tiebreaker is played. Neither Henssler nor the contestant knows what's going to happen and have no opportunity to practice beforehand, and I can't help but wonder if this format goes as similarly left field with it's picks of events.

The people boxing had months to prepare, whereas these people were probably told they were going to play Tetris for 10000 dollars that day. just imagine being told you'll play ladder golf or some shit in front of millions for a crap ton of cash and you had next to no time to prepare, the last thing on your mind would be "what will the ladder golf community think?".

Thank you for responding. It also ignored the fact that Twitch Rivals at its core is meant to be ridiculous and funny, watching "celebrities" fail while putting a lot on the line is part of its charm, a tried and true formula. So this video goes in line with that. I still believe there was a missed opportunity here as you could potentially have had so many new eyes on actual Competitive Tetris through Twitch Rival Algorythm gods, but let's be honest the community will never beat THAT finals. So it's fine, really. Sorry about that.

    TwitchRivals always seems to be disasters. I remember the elden ring one being 100% rigged from the start, where everyone was noobs vs Oroboro's who's been streaming and making videos on Souls pvp for over a decade now.

    I played a couple of games on emulator on 7 starts with no classic Tetris experience and averaged around 10,000, maxing out around 25,000.
