- This I did on a Monday afternoon for a bit of fun, please understand im not an expert and i only rushed this. im sure there are more things that can be done better and i am expecting all the smart comments from people who know how to do it better lol but anyway. Seen as i have been asked to play this song as a cover many times before i figured that it would be a bit silly just as a piano sound as only so much u can do.. so this was my alternative,
Recording information:
Piano: Yamaha MO8
Novation Speedio Capture Audio, Cakewalk Sonar Pro 8, FL Studio 8, + 80s drum pack I purchased.

At the 7:02 point through 7:19.... As the clarity fades in...That would make an excellent addition to an updated house remix of Stand Back.
I totally Agree!! Jackon you should remix the remix and add this too it~~~
Tim Ryan yes I keep going back to this part. It would sound magical if put together in a remix.
I don't normally care for house remixes, but I have to agree with you there. I think it probably works especially well because of the synth in the original
Excellent song! Prince played and came up with the keyboard riff/chords! He walk into the studio and said he had a track for her, laid it down and said good luck! Amazing!
Cool!
Oh I never heard that before! That's pretty cool
So sorry but that's not the real story of this song..i will tell you...Stevie heard "Little red corvette" by Prince and was the inspiration to write "Stand back"...Stevie called Prince and told him about this song inspired by Little red corvette and invited him to listen at the recording studio because it would be included in Stevie's new album named "The wild heart"..Prince went right away to the recording studio and made his part by playing the keyboards..Stevie promised him to split the credits of this song and give him the 50%...but the song was written by Stevie Nicks..
I know it is kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
No matter how you slice it ... it's a magical song!
Love it. More would be great!
don't sell yourself short, I may have been done spur of the moment and rused but short of stevie absense I would say this sounds just as good as the oringinal.
"Please understand I'm not an expert"
No... no. You are. That was awesome my man, and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to music. Great work!
This has been one of my favorite songs for many years. You did an excellent job! Thanks for sharing.
Very cool!
You've completely captured the 80s. 10/10!
Wow, that was excellent! I dabble in Acid Music Loops so this was great seeing how this all comes together. Great Job!
great inside look at the process.. helps to visualize what it takes to formulate this kind of project.. thanks!

Great video! Great example of layering instruments in a song.

Thanks Ryan, appreciate all your kind feedback man :) :):)
how can you learn to do this? you seem pretty skilled.
Yeah, this is pretty sweet, pretty impressive what a single guy (not talking about relationship-wise!) can do.
Great stuff! Any chance of doing "All she wants to do is dance" by Don Henley some day?
It sounds really good. But where is the website to download this track? I'd love to have it.
You record it in the computer with a usb-midi cable?
This is great! But I feel something is missing... I think maybe the bass line could use sixteenth notes instead of eighth notes... It could be just a matter of a simple delay effect...
It sounds like early 90 Nintendo game music.
For the love of god, FULL VERSION PLZ 8D
What kinda board is that man?
Got them Prince riffs down tho'...great job!
This is my older synth Yamaha MO8
@@yew2533 Thatz wussup..
I think they used an apeggiator for this.
Prince apparently played his parts (both the bass synth notes and the high parts from a Jupiter 8 apparently) without a sequencer. While it's true you could use an arpeggiator for that kind of part, Prince didn't. Also, you can find live videos from Stevie's shows from around 1986 (and possibly before) to just recently where you can see that part being accomplished with two fingers. You can find additional info here - prince.org/msg/5/186490. But to save you the trouble, I'm copying what was said so you don't have to look for it that hard.
"In the 90's, I worked for an engineer (David Dubow) who told me he was at that session the evening Stevie called Prince. Prince came right over and played the syncopated synth parts that you hear on the recording without using a sequencer. In real time. He also tracked a few other instruments before he left the studio and she never heard from him again at least for a long time. They didn't use everything he played, but his synth part is prominent in the final mix."
