I love that he doesn't really play any complicated triplet grouping to confuse people. He's just messing with your perception of the measure.

Interesting. I internalized this as the clap on the 7, with the one after.

I actually had the same feeling at the beginnig, but i transcribed the clap as the 1 cause in that way the cross stick comes as back beat on the 2nd beat and so on... But who knows what Nate was thinking.. The clap could be also the 7 beat... We should ask it to Nate:D

The clap is his way of letting the crowd know where the 1 is

I absolutely agree. It is on the 7 for me too.

He conducts a bar of it himself at around the 0:32 mark and the downbeat is the clap. I understand people can hear it in different ways though.

I got here from another video with a transcription that writes beat 7 as the clap.it feels good on 7,maybe because of the rest..but it’s hard to figure out, could be on 1...🤯

I’m a drummer but would be just as likely to play this by random chance as by intent. You my friend must be one of those “Good Drummers” people tell me about 🤣

@@wardruff well it's transcripted now so you can easily learn to play it, as you can side read the parts that your ear doesn't fully comprehend!

The guy with the saxophone claps a metronome. Whatever Nate does he's like "so what?".
