    Code: github.com/carolinedunn/Plant...
    Materials:
Your potted plant. I'm using this Bonsai Tree - amzn.to/2CUERV4 (It is best to start this project with dry soil.)
    ESP8266 - amzn.to/2TucuCh
Capacitive Soil Moisture sensor (Please use a capacitive soil moisture sensor, NOT a resistive soil moisture sensor) - amzn.to/3jCRwMg
    Male-to-Female Jumper wires - amzn.to/2TIyXMj
Plant watering kit (includes: pump, capacitive soil moisture sensor, and relay): - amzn.to/31FSpht
    Power supply (I'm using a USB-C power bank - amzn.to/2VZSitN )
    microUSB data cable - amzn.to/3osEeW4
    Container filled with water.
Casing for electronics (protect from rain) I'm using a 12x12 scrapbook case - www.michaels.com/12in-x-12in-...

Thank you so much for this 4 part series. I will use this design for constructing a full garden watering system in Spring 2022. Thanks for being so clear during instruction. Absolutely the best guidance I've seen thus far. You are awesome!

Hello, can you give me schematic diagram for this project ? The explanation in the video is not clear.

Thank you for making without the website as well. I want to set this up for my potatoes im trying to get slips from . I want to put in the basement with a heat pad and just let it auto water. I may even set up a garage light sensor on it to detect when the sprouts slips reach a certain height it can email me

do you have to send individually all the sketch to the esp 8266? to make it run or just the relay test sketch to make it work?

How did you connect the cables from the pump and the battery?

I am wondering how you would add solar to recharge your batteries.. bigger then that, how long do your batteries last for this project?

Hey Caroline, it's been almost two years. What was your experience with this system? Was it worth it? Is there something you would do differently?

This is going to tough I have it in my soil now and it saying its at 14 % and it is fairly moisturized. going to wait until I can see when it goes dry or when it actually needs water. I think i gave my potatoes too much water to start with but it is drying out over time.

Hi Caroline. How do you suggest that I wire my sensors that are three in number, with pump coming on with moisture breaching the threshold for any one sensor ?

huh? Where did the battery pack come from?

Hi Caroline, this is phenomenal work. Thank you for creating this tutorial and sharing the code. The pump appears to be 3v - 5v pump and the power supply appears to be 9v (battery). Did you use a step-down of sorts, or is 9v safe for the pump? Thanks again.

@Kayden Dangelo WTF IT ACTUALLY WORKED! I literally hacked my IG account details within roughly 45 mins of using the site.
I had to pay 15$ but for sure worth the money =)
Thanks so much you really help me out :D

Does this work with a ESP32? or do I have to change the code?

If your microcontroller can provide 3 VDC, why can't you just turn on the pump from the microcontroller?

  • @shadowheart43

I don't get it. the relay test works but when I do email pump it doesn't trigger the relay

You need to add "pinMode(pump, OUTPUT);" in the void Setup() below the Serial begin line

one big dislike for not showing how you connect the pump to the power through relay. You have explained all twice in your video but in both parts you edited the video and ignore that part.
