Heating up the plastic brings the oil back out and burns of oxidation. Works like a charm and now all the kids will understand that plastic = Oils :) Another trick is if you have an old red car that has turned pink/white.. Just spray it with WD40 or 5-56 and rub with a towel. Repeat til it's shiny red again. Get's oil in to the paint again and it's red again :)

I really like this format where mark is like the presenter in a way, and questions Mike and the others about stuff, as he asks really good questions that lead to answers that most people would find interesting. Although when Mike talks, it's hard for it not to be interesting to anyone with an interest in cars. xD I can imagine mark being a really good documentary maker TBH.
I commented this above but I'll say it again. It is nice to have such a unknown view to ask questions for others who are inexperienced but want to know. When Mike is explaining things and Mark is there it adds a dynamic that can not be faked and is so easy to overlook. When someone knows so much it is easy to forget even the minute details are not so simple for everyone else. Mike does a phenomenal job at explaining technical details thoroughly and simplifying it as well for sure.

Crazy how reviews on Cerakote are so one extreme or the other! I have had great results with our 7 sprinters (holy hell do they have entirely way too much "trim"!) Torching brings up the oils to the surface but will make them brittle over time if you continually torch it and do not apply oil for it to absorb again (dressing, tire shine or the like works well.) or like you said Cerakote

Best back to black trim restorer is peanut oil or peanut butter that is warmed and then rubbed into the plastic, The oil lasts for 4 to 5 months. Make sure to rinse off well so as not to get a white residue from the peanuts.

I can appreciate all different engines, swap everything into everything and build original stock motors too, just build and make something cool, and as long as it makes you (the person who own the car) happy then you are on the right track. To answer marks questions about the s2000. They are 11:1 and take boost perfectly fine. The problem with the greddy kit they developed was that it still uses the factory ECU. With a standalone ECU and e85 you can make tons of power with a good bolt on turbo kit.
The Cayman mentioned is my car and that was my original plan but quickly found out I can't possibly pay 15k for a fp crank haha maybe if we get some more attention on the build a company will step up haha

Completely agree with Mike, we see all these mods that claim to increase horsepower. I have worked for Honda for more than 20 years and I agree you need a good base point. I have an S2000 and I love it. I have brought it back to its oem glory with a few suspension mods. At the time of release the S2000s F20c engine held the record for producing the highest power output for any mass production naturally aspirated engine in a car at 123.5 HP/L until the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia which produced 124.5 HP/L. Mine is a AP1 reving till 9000 rpm, a great drivers car on and off the track!! Great content guys keep it up!!! 🔥
the creams/sprays and torch work but for a short time and dry out the plastic making it more brittle. the proper way is to redeye the plastic with something like 3d products black renew or technicians choice TEC70
Talking about the Porsche nikisil coated aluminum sleeves, Shawn said "oh like an s2000". Thats not correct, Honda doesn't use nikisil. The f20c sleeves are reinforced aluminum composite with no coating. That's one of the reasons we can make 700-800hp on a completely stock s2000 engine. The sleeves are incredibly strong.
I used to do performance upgrades and dyno cars. Did a cold air on a Durango with not a ton of miles, picked up like 15whp and owners said their mpg went up like 3mpg. So yes some stats are fake but things do work.

Makes it nice for viewers with the same unknown but curious to know. It is genuine, it's a view you can't fake and is often overlooked by even one who is trying to teach. Simple things that we see as obvious, we often forget it is not. I'd like to see him start to be more hands on (and he very well might be, each "episode" is only a fraction of a day. Obviously he has other things to do that are his job when not filming that are not being out in the shop. He evidently does a good job at that, despite everyone thinking he just horses around (they forget that they are watching a video EVERYday).
As an ex s2000 owner I can agree Sean got the rpm limit down . I think it would be sick to see Sean turn this thing into a sick race car Honda modern day super car

The salt/ minerals leaching through the concrete (called efflorescence) is common here in HB. I live about 2.5 miles north of the DDEHQ and have it. It really sucks when it leaches into the stucco walls and destroys the stucco.
With Mike Essa being a BMW guy, I’m surprised he doesn’t talk about how affordable and easy it is to get decent power on the B58 like his f30. I have a 440i b58 with around 700whp on DI only. Cost for power is low, and the platform has been great. It’s strange to me his experience is not great with the platform.
Tell Eric to use miguires ultimate Black after doing the torch trick on the plastics. You’ll have to use the ultimate black on the kei truck every month or so to keep it looking pristine
Choi~ give cerakote trim wipes. It water repels and last a really long time. Ammo nyc sells them and the actual brand cerakote trim wipes usually found at Walmart

To get rid of the yellowed headlights on Eric’s kei truck use buffing compound an a buffing pad on a grinder wheel

With Mike Essa being a BMW guy, I’m surprised he doesn’t talk about how affordable and easy it is to get decent power on the B58 like his f30. I have a 440i b58 with around 700whp on DI only. Cost for power is low, and the platform has been great. It’s strange to me his experience is not great with the platform.
