Love how he gives the Strat a workout starting at 1:55, hits the pickup selector, whammy, and then back to the rhythm pickup at the end of the solo -- seamless, trademark Crenshaw!
12 yrs old when Someday, someway came out, really liked that song unfortunately radio at that time didn’t play him enough. Thank God for La Bamba and you tube. Big fan
Yup. Agreed. Him, Neil Finn, Andy Partridge, Nick Lowe and Difford and Tilbrook. Along with Husker Du, R.E.M.and The Replacements, those acts were, in large part, the soundtrack of my 20's.
the guys on the right are Graham Maby (bassist for Marshall and also Joe Jackson) and Tom Teely on the red guitar (guitarist for Marshall and also Joe Jackson).
Way more than once. Paul and Dave had good taste, for the most part. I still can't figure out Dave's great love for The Foo Fighters, and, to a lesser extent, Pearl Jam, but otherwise, he just nails it with great musical guests.
Not sure what the two guys names are on the right, but I saw Marshall with them in the early 90's and it was outstanding! The harmonies in the show were incredible. I've seen him many times and loved every show, but I remember that one being one of the best! Thanks for posting, sound quality is great.
sad ,but true...i watched some fairly recent shows on here and I was shocked......i mean he really lost his range and voice...couldn't believe it...it wasn't subtle....sad cause i'm a huge fan of his work.

So when you wrote this completely idiotic comment Marshall was 63 years old. Who in their 60's sounds the way the did when they were in their 20's and 30's? What possesses idiots like you to make comments like this instead of just saying nothing?
One of them appears to be 12-string; fills out the sound of the accompanying chords. If you watch closely, they 6 and 12 strings are not always playing in unison.
Under rated and under appreciated.
He should have had some Grammy nominations.
I wish I could see a comment section under a Crenshaw song that didn't have the word "underrated". Maybe someday...someway.

Not only excellent vocals, but he smokes on the Guitar !
What a solo!
Wow, he really brought it that night ... nice!

You’re so right. Radio didn’t play Someday, Someway. I had to wait with bated breath for every time MTV would plY the video.
Saw him this past weekend, still a great performer!
whoa that's a fantastic cut...
So very tastefully done! And that solo- 15 seconds long, but just perfect!
Marshall and Paul Shaffer band were tight that night. Great song!
My favorite singer songwriter post-1970's.
Thanks for the great posting! Classic Crenshaw sound on this song.
This guy has so many great songs. In an alternate universe, he's bigger than U2.

@@shawnuel Great list. XTC probably the moist underappreciated band in music history. MC has a tone of brilliant songs
Great song! Reminds me of Declan MacManus, with all the nooks and crannies.
'Good Evening' is a fab album.

Marshall brings it...
marvellous !
Ahh yes. Thanks very much.
I am guessing that Crenshaw and Letterman got along well since Crenshaw was on the show more than once.

@@shawnuel Ah, what I'd do to be a guest on his show back in the day. All I have is TH-cam:

Great solo.
That was very good !!! But where’s the interview with Dave ?
i want to go to that universe where Marshall is The King.
Should be as big as Tom Petty. Just as many timeless, first-rate rock/pop songs.
Can someone please post the lyrics to the song on this page? Id do it i honestly dont know how. :(
Wow he plays guitar !!!!
@wink1101 Oh yeah, we hardly ever see Paul Shaffer on Letterman
; )
@jscheidt3 Absolutely right! I do think he's a really good player, plus i like the way he brings out the best in a Strat............!
Anyone know what chords he's playing? Besides the G chord I spot...
I think that's Sid McGinnis on 6 string bass with tremolo, playing some lines that double Will's bass part.

forget it fans, marshall's voice is gone the way of sebastian 2017

Snore
WTF is with two acoustic guitars? Relatives maybe?
