The Adidas Predator series has definitely had its ups and downs, with the Predator 20 generation definitely being a high point! 1 year later, we now have its replacement, the Predator Freak, which sees pretty well all of the same technology and features, but with a modified design. It's different, but not by much.
In today's video we take a closer look at what will likely be the most popular of the 3 top-end variations, the Adidas Predator Freak.1, the replacement for the Predator 20.1 that sees a $25 price increase, now retailing for $250. It's more expensive, but is it better? Well yes, but not by as much as some may have been hoping for. I discuss what's new, what's the same, and whether or not these are worth upgrading to. This is a very good and honest review, especially the end. If you can pick up the 20.1 for half price, why would you get the new ones for full price if there's not enough difference?

The biggest issue i had was the insole moving under my foot. Its the best thing about the mercurials tbh, hope they changes the moulding of the inner sole.

I think the upper feels softer because of fewer demon spikes on the boot the Mutator 20.1 had more spikes than the freak.1 has now. They could have named the boot Predator Upgrade.1 or so sounds more like the predator movies I’d like it

Ima keep it real. Ever since they took away the F50 line and Adipure line adidas has been going down. These new shoes aren’t it and aren’t what adidas is known for. Ik companies have to change eventually but Nike, Puma, and Mizuno have been killing it lately
Agree they're struggling. I personally hated the 20.1, and look how many pros are still wearing X19.1/19+ over the Ghosteds. They just seem a bit lost right now.
Agreed, it all went downhill for them when they got rid of the 4 silos (predator, adipure, f50 & nitrocharge) for the Ace, Messi and X. Adidas should have just replaced 1 of the 4.

I just realized is called the freak because the spikes add control on the ball . Relating it to the word control freak
Pro: I like my pair of PF.1L they are very comfy and the spikes are amazing for increasing ball spin and speed on my curve shots.
Cons: I am not happy that the snug fit became lose very soon after around 10 games and at the same time the synthetic surface under the spike begins to crack on the big toe metatarsal area.
Are these good for a bit wide feeted person?
The 20.1 fell apart quicker than any shoe I have ever seen. After two months, the cleats separated off the boot. Any change in that aspect?

I can't understand how you feel that the sizing is the same with Predator 19.1 and these. For me, 19.1 in size 10 US was too small, but with Freaks, size 9 US was perfect...
Hi josh, I just got a pair of Nike Vapor 13 pros for a few weeks now (around 2 weeks), I have been breaking them in and they feel alright apart from an area under my small toes on both feet, feels like stud pressure but could be the anatomical sole plate causing pain, is this common? And will it go away as my feet get used to them! Thanks

I've always worn Puma King Top di, but now my last pair have worn out, I've decided to modernize and go for these Freaks.
I'm not a fan of the elasticated midfoot style of any boot (I prefer the old skool tongue and laces approach), and with these Freaks I find them fairly tight in that region.
Do you think they'll loosen up over time?
I'll revert to the Kings otherwise.

So I tried the mid cut version on for the first time today and they were uncomfortably tight in the mid foot, and then cartoonishly large in the forefoot. Just an absurd of amount space remained around and past my toes. I don’t know who has a foot shaped like this.

I just received the laceless model and the spikes that they added on the top of the boot is pretty much useless. They are nowhere as grippy as the ones on the front and side, they are almost slippery lol

Hey Josh I have a question ive been meaning to ask you. I was looking into getting these but don’t know the size. I wear 8 in mercurial and every cleat i wear but when i had the X19.1 they fit loose at the toe box and my foot moved a lot in them. What size would you suggest me getting in predator low? @sr4u and anyone can help me!
I think your good w the size 8 but you could see if anyone reviewed the 19.1 to see if they said if you need a size smaller

how do you keep boots so clean after you test them
All you have to do is take your dog outside, bend over and put your boots infront of it. Quietly walk around the back of said animal and then insert your foot up it’s arse. Then the doggo will in fact lick your boots back to factory new condition with tags.

Very comfortable and light boot but poor build quality. Bought 2 pairs and both fallen apart after 6 months. Glue not strong enough and plastic outer material by toe completley worn away, might as well just wear socks and play. Switching to Nike

I have really wide feet as well, they won’t stretch that much but you’re feet just get used to the feel, the first few times it’s very tight in the middle but there’s plenty of space for my wide feet and I’ve gotten used to it : )

Midfoot still tight and Front area too wide STILL?! Why not make middle foot wider and front area tighter and keep the same sizing (because the sizing on the 20.1 was on point) FFS Adidas...
i probably will just order them and return them if it's the same deal, but the last preds i just couldnt deal with that narrow midfoot. I'm hoping since it's all primeknit now that maybe it'lll stretch more and become alright.

Durability - They're absolute garbage. Outside edge of right boot split after 6 games. Cloth taped the hell out of right boot but left boot top lace hole ripped a couple if games later. Previous Puma and Nike's normally go 2 to 4 seasons.
