Y’know, I think a combined remake of Metal Gear 1 & 2 could work if they divided the remake into two chapters like MGSV. The first one would be Operation Intrude N.1313, and the second would be about Zanzibarland. Alternatively, if Kojima were so inclined, (who else could properly do a remake?) there could be three chapters, the first being a rework of MGSV’s cut Chapter 3, with Venom Snake’s infiltration of Eli’s Kingdom of the Flies. I think the way to make that work would be to change things so that the real Big Boss is the one who infiltrates the Island, with Foxhound subbing in for Diamond Dogs. Then, after Eli escapes the island, it cuts to the Boss briefing Solid Snake years later.
Is there anyone, ANYONE AT ALL, that prefers this game's story as-is (without all the other stuff that Metal Gear *Solid* games retconned into existence)? There are times when I feel like I am the only one with such a sentiment.
***** It just feels so much more simple and poignant. Much like Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, it's also down to earth and infinitely more relatable (without all the supernatural stuff). At least Metal Gear Solid kept the magic to a healthy minimum with Psycho Mantis and Vulcan Raven. After that, though...
+Ragitsu I do. It's like everyone hates these games because of the graphics. IMO, this is actually more fun to play than MG2. When I play this game, I disregard all of that "Venom Snake" stuff. That's Big Boss. He survived and reappeared for the sequel.
I still don't understand why Big Boss rejoint "FOXHOUND" after he build "outer heaven" in africa. Why let Solid Snake infiltrate BIg Boss's own base "Outer Heaven"?
he went back into the U.S. only to grab intel to keep building outer heaven and he sent snake in thinking he wouldn't be able to complete his mission but he was wrong. He didn't realize how much his son (or his clone) snake was capable of doing
It really is up to how you see it. Me personally, I see it as Big Boss controlled Foxhound and told Venom how to build Outer Heaven and when the time was right, Big Boss and venom will both control Outer Heaven. Or just Big Boss. Big Boss sends in Solid Snake to Outer Heaven because at this point Outer Heaven is a major threat and the point of Foxhound is to help out America. So Big Boss sends in Solid expecting two things. 1.for him to fail and die 2. To not make Big Boss himself be a suspect to what is happening in Outer Heaven. That explains why Big Boss who is on the radio in the game tells solid to abort the mission once he is about to destroy metal gear and kill Venom. Big Boss plans backfires and uses Venoms death to cover his new plot to build Zanzibar Land.
its also why big boss keeps saying "oh i forgot to tell you" because he's actually fucking with solid snake the whole time trying to put him in a situation he thinks he can't handel because he didn't properly prepare him for.
Thank you for putting up this and all the other MGS videos. I've played through the others but I've never had the patience to finish Metal Gear and MG2 on the Subsistence disk.
The nes version you and your team parachute in. Mid to late 80s army special forces was popular. In Solid Snake for PS1 you dive in and that is partly because the Navy SEALs were really hyped up in the late 90s.
If ever there was a metal gear movie to be made, it should be this chapter and mg2. That bare fist fight against Grey Fox in the mine field would be amazing.
I was just going to say: So... You made Metal Gear - The Movie.... Congratulations! You've achieved: The Impossible, and have thus won the Internetz for the remainder of this current decade.
I hope you do all the other Metal Gear games! Take your time though, we can never wait too long for something as good as your edits! By the way, if and when you go Metal Gear Solid, will the cutscenes you use be from the Playstation version, or The Twin Snakes remake? Because, despite the added ridiculous scenes, I actually kind of prefer the remake, lol
You've done a wonderful job with the series and made it more acessible to players who can't have all games, I'd like to thank you for you work here. Though I'm also wondering, are there any other games you're doing? Perhaps Metal Gear 2?
The game was made over 2 decades ago; it's not exactly gonna be Guns of the Patiots HD graphics quality. People who played games in its time thought it looked great. Unless you mean it looks bad in some other way :3
Keifer Snake/ Big Boss: Okay… just like we practiced Snake… David Snake/ Solid Snake: Okay… I’m ready… Big Boss: Repeat after me… Kept you waiting… huh? Solid Snake: Kept you waitin’ huh? Big Boss: Work on that. Now go and intrude N131
With "Les enfants terribles" in mind the outcome of this mission should have been clear for Big Boss, at least up to the point he faces Snake. I watched this because I wanted to know the circumstances of that mission as the other games refer to it but sadly the first game doesn't really fit into the franchise.
+TiMeSpLiT- -TeR It's up to interpretation. It could be a warning from Big Boss or a "It's time." message to Outer Heaven as real BB prepares zanzibar land.

Is there anyone, ANYONE AT ALL, that prefers this game's story as-is (without all the other stuff that Metal Gear *Solid* games retconned into existence)?
There are times when I feel like I am the only one with such a sentiment.
Probably so. Metal Gear Solid is grand and gave this series much of its lore.
*****
It just feels so much more simple and poignant.
Much like Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, it's also down to earth and infinitely more relatable (without all the supernatural stuff).
At least Metal Gear Solid kept the magic to a healthy minimum with Psycho Mantis and Vulcan Raven.
After that, though...
Ragitsu I also prefer the "old" story line of MGS3 over all the Hightech magic stuff of 4 etc. .
*****
Yep that is mostly true, but they were about the directing of the scenes not the story really and made the game better as awhole, too.
+Ragitsu I do. It's like everyone hates these games because of the graphics. IMO, this is actually more fun to play than MG2. When I play this game, I disregard all of that "Venom Snake" stuff. That's Big Boss. He survived and reappeared for the sequel.
Awesome, thank you for this memory lane video.: )
Big Boss plans backfires and uses Venoms death to cover his new plot to build Zanzibar Land.
its also why big boss keeps saying "oh i forgot to tell you" because he's actually fucking with solid snake the whole time trying to put him in a situation he thinks he can't handel because he didn't properly prepare him for.
they really need to make an HD version of this game
12:36 "I'm Coward Duck! Shoot me if you can!"
"Okay"
DUDE I JUST HIRED A SOLDIER NAMED COWARD DUCK IN MGSV. OMG YOURE KILLING HIM YOU BASTARDS
Sooooooooooooooo... Phantom Snake...... So ..... Solid Snake killed... ME... at the end of this game.. well, i went down fighting i guess
Same thoughts lol
Damn, big boss always use the "i forgot something" excuse...
Thank you for putting up this and all the other MGS videos. I've played through the others but I've never had the patience to finish Metal Gear and MG2 on the Subsistence disk.
Never got to play this game. Explained quite a bit about why solid snake and big boss were enemies. Keep up the good work! Can't wait for MG2.
After finishing Phantom Pain a few days ago and I watch this I can see how far the series has come *nod*
"The high voltage current"
ELECTRONICS
I hope you do all the other Metal Gear games! Take your time though, we can never wait too long for something as good as your edits!
By the way, if and when you go Metal Gear Solid, will the cutscenes you use be from the Playstation version, or The Twin Snakes remake? Because, despite the added ridiculous scenes, I actually kind of prefer the remake, lol
This is Big Boss...
I forgot to tell you
Awesome, thanks. I could never sit down and beat such an old game in this time & age.
Great Video. Hopefully it gets uploaded to IGN.
Appreciate this. I couldn’t get myself to finish the game lol.
what would be extra cool is to pay voice actors on fivrr to do the lines, then overlay them.
You didn't include Big Boss' faulty intel, or his "Turn off the MSX now!" ):
You've done a wonderful job with the series and made it more acessible to players who can't have all games, I'd like to thank you for you work here.
Though I'm also wondering, are there any other games you're doing? Perhaps Metal Gear 2?
Kojima...I wish the man can make some MG some how. This series is so good.
Amazing how far this game has come.
Big Boss: *sends solid snake on mission to destroy Metal Gear
Solid Snake: *destroys Metal Gear
Big Boss: * :0
Wow, I was looking for something like this a while back, but I couldn't find anything. You're awesome, Kefka.
15:50 man i love that little run
"How i defeat this boss?" "Same way you defetead the others, dumbass".
These videos are pretty badass! Playing this was insane as a kid. So cool to just watch the classic.
that nostalgic audio at the start of the video
The game honestly looks very bad but that MOTHERFUCKING 8 BIT MUSIC THO !!!
The game was made over 2 decades ago; it's not exactly gonna be Guns of the Patiots HD graphics quality. People who played games in its time thought it looked great.
Unless you mean it looks bad in some other way :3
Its not about the technic ;)
MateMa Q Okay..?
Then what?
MateMa Q what the fuck? This game looks so much better than most 8bit games during this time. How the fuck does this look bad?
MateMa Q You think this looks bad? Have you never seen the bastardized NES version before..?
Big Boss sure forgets to tell Snake things
Solid Snake casually undoing all that work I put into getting resources and soldiers
awesome work man! can't wait to see the other movies
Thank you. The first game was too ancient for me.
Keifer Snake/ Big Boss: Okay… just like we practiced Snake…
David Snake/ Solid Snake: Okay… I’m ready…
Big Boss: Repeat after me… Kept you waiting… huh?
Solid Snake: Kept you waitin’ huh?
Big Boss: Work on that. Now go and intrude N131
watchig this as i have mgsv on the background waiting for the "Prevent the L'Coup D'tat" mission to end! the last thing for the 100%! Total joy
Remote-Controlled Missiles: The Game
This is a must-watch now that The Phantom Pain is about to launch. Excellent editing, especially for the big plot-twist reveal. :)
Well, I thought this movie was impossible...
Guess nothing's impossible for Kefka! :D
Keep up the splendid work coming, mate! :)
that music is so good
shit id be happy if they remade it with the mgs 2 engine, let alone the fox.
Awesome vid
0:41 Hey, that sounds just like "VR Training" song from MGS!
Well, you got yourself a new subscriber, my friend.
Awesome job! keep up the great work :)
With "Les enfants terribles" in mind the outcome of this mission should have been clear for Big Boss, at least up to the point he faces Snake. I watched this because I wanted to know the circumstances of that mission as the other games refer to it but sadly the first game doesn't really fit into the franchise.
Or perhaps the franchise doesn't really fit the game. :P
It does if you know the truth of mgsv
The secret ending for mgv is that big boss gave a tape for venom snake. The tape is titled Operation Intrude N313.
+TiMeSpLiT- -TeR It's up to interpretation. It could be a warning from Big Boss or a "It's time." message to Outer Heaven as real BB prepares zanzibar land.
