I feel the Potensic Atom 3 axis is more refined (software) and slightly better video quality. This seems to have tiny bit better battery and the zoom on the camera.
I have a Potensic Atom too ( good little drone ) , but the sensor of this C Fly is bigger : 1/2.3 , Potensic : 1/3 , and a few other drones Autel Evo Lite, DJI Air 3 ... , C Fly Faiith 2, Faith 2S , Fimi, X8 Pro , Hubsan Ace Pro ... You can have fun with all the drones 😊
I haven’t flown the Potensic Atom but from what I’ve seen, it’s much more advanced than the C-Fly Mini 2 by far-camera/gimbal, hardware, app performance, build quality, transmission feed, etc. However, the C-Fly Mini 2 does have a phenomenal range on it, very good camera quality, long flight time AND 4G network capability via a module (made by C-Fly) that allows it to fly at longer ranges than the current 5km max

The C-Fly has the same sensor as the Faith 2S, 2Pro, Dji Mini 2: 1/2.3, Potensic only 1/3, the cfly will be higher than the Potensic at the camera, automatic flights do not interest me, or very little, except circle flight 😊
Great review again Steve. When it got a mind of it's own and started heading towards the container and hydro pole my mind was made up. Sticking with my DJI Mavic 2 pro, Mavic platinum pro and mini's. Had a fly away with a cheaper drone a few years ago and all I could think of was the law suits I might be facing til I found it. It was pre 2019 before I got my certification.
Looks like a good camera for the price. Some of the other faults may be early versions of the firmware which could be updated. Thanks for the review and I will check this one out.
I'll eat my hat if one of these cheapo chinese drones ships an update that actually fixes these things considered wonky. Even while my Fimi X8 is considered a bit better product in the category, they abandoned the RC app, shipped a new version for the newer drone that doesn't work with the older one, and many of the features still literally say "beta" on them lol. Even have had the app entirely lose camera feed while using the SAR mode which almost led to me losing the drone as it was far away when it happened. That given, I do still like the software due to the reason that it leaves "geolocking" to the user.
Mine arrived today, I got it for a steal but the 1 battery deal pack. I’ll be having my first flight tomorrow but it’s not my first drone, it’s my 3rd. My first 2 are really cheap ones I’ve just used for “flying school” The battery took 3/12 hours to charge 😂
The visual following AI does 8ts best at following via a high contrast frame-by-frame rifference checker. The places it has the hardest time is when you (a generally dark object) passes thru another generally dark object resulting in possible 9bject loss as it compares the contrasty differences frame-by-frame. If you were in a fully white snow suit on a large soccer field 8td not have an easy time tracking anything with a contrasting moving object. These are also the same kinds 9f conditions that make auto-focus (AF) work so well in good optics and camera equipment. A contrasty subject makes AF work so much faster than very narrow hi-/lo- objects.
It it what it is... a cheap low budget with very good motors, minor internal hardware improvements and a camera that actually films in 4K/30fps... the rest is all fun and gimmicks. You’re good with your DJI, Autel and Hubsan ACE 2

I want to love the Cfly. But I do t hink it might be better if you wait and save the money to get the Fimi X8 V2. Not horribly more expensive. But seems to have a lot better quality. Especially things like zooming in.
Looks so close to being a truly excellent mini drone. If only CFly can update the App and/or drone firmware. As to the '4K' video, I know that it's a 'must have', but personally I'd rather watch a good 1080 video than a meh 4K. Stills look pretty good though.

what ive noticed on mini one charging battery it takes about 2hours charge it to 99% rest of the time just for balancing cells. no need to wait 5hours for green light...
Spring is here time to fly my cflyes Put CFLY up and didn’t get very far and in CFLY fashion it did a return to home not even a 1/4 mile out so same old CFLY crap made to fly in a park . FIMI is the way to go right out of box.
Watching the footage, I thought my eyes were going bad. It's got some weird blurry patches going on, almost as if the lens isn't well aligned with the sensor, or it's got some defects. Not sure I'll be getting this for my 90 year old grandma'. She can really scoot when her favorite game show comes on.
The selection of sub 250 gram drones is pretty big now and some are really nice for the money. Those guys on the ice are crazy. No fish is worth falling into a half frozen lake..LOL. Thanks for sharing!

hi captain i recieved this drone today. i cant take it for a flight yet as the weather is awful. i switched it on and got the app. it makes a humming sound it might be the fan but asking just to be sure its not a fault.
I am very happy to see that you are being completely honest with the issues with this newer drone. Although, whether the new upgraded camera on the new models or what I have, is not very important to me when just using to take pictures. These drones are tough and work very well with good GPS signal and are nimble and easy to fly compared to other lower price drones when used manually only. With that said...Issue with these drones compared to DJI is that the battery has been unacceptable. I purchased two faith mini's and the batteries are worthless after about 10 uses. The batteries show fully charged after about 3 hours of charging no matter what power brick is used or what cable...but then once you take off it wants to land within 2 minutes due to low battery. They may have fixed the issues on these upgraded models but would love to know the results after a few months. Not trying to give you a hard time, but after spending over $400 on two of the Faith Mini's and the batteries are useless after about 10 flights to just take pictures of a roof, I am interested in your future follow-up videos on life expectancy. I understand that you make money off of reviews but Captain Drone...you have to understand that us consumers that only using these drones...such as I do just to take pictures of roofs during an inspection is tough to need to purchase new batteries every two to three months. RC-GOING has personally told me that the batteries have a very limited life span? That was possibly just an answer to make me leave them alone...but just saying. A new DJI Mini 2 SE can be purchased for around $300 from Sam's Club with two batteries or up to $500 if ordering from Amazon with the separate quick charger for three batteries, but it is definitely worth the money to me to get something that will actually have much better batteries that last much longer than CFly. There is something wrong with these drones being shipped with terrible batteries. And finally...for what they charge it is not a good value for the money!!!
For what your specific needs I’d recommend DJI as they’re much more reliable in regards to battery and hardware. However, the Faith Mini 2 does have an improved battery but not sure about the lifespan of it. DJI is the premium winner, this one is the dollar store budget alternative
And I would appreciate more details on your response...once again...paying over $200 USD for this drone compared to paying $300 for a DJI Mini 2 SE based on the listed issues you and others have found with the CFly Mini...whether the first or "2" is honestly not cutting it. I will leave you alone now. As long as your viewers realize that you are some what being honest with your reviews...but still recommending products that are just not worth the money. Let me add in case you want to respond, DJI is not the end all be all and yes they have issues...but still you need to make a living but remember that we all have to lay our heads on a pillow and sleep at night. that is a cool little drone. ideal for someone that wants 4k and just a play around.. sadly i still not managed to use my drone after 3 years owning one. lol.
This is not an FPV drone (FPV is the advanced drone hobby). This is for beginners to enjoy an easy out of the box experience and an easy flight experience.

I had the cfly faith 2 drone its fly's great and was very stable but the app and transmission distance sucked i had much problems also with gimbal and no firmware updates so i returned it after (3) flights... 2 amazing good flights but then the problems started with the gimbal and overheating electronics and after that third flight it stopped working...
How good this C-Fly Faith Mini 2 could have been if they made the follow-me work? Because that the Atom, Fimi Mini, and Mini 2 SE don't have. And as a bonus a bit of visual tracking. But nooooooooo! It's still crap. The active-track is even worse! And in both modes you can't use the sticks!!!! That's a recipe for trouble. Bye bye drone. Such a shame. I'ts pretty nice for all the rest. But useless for a hiker/biker. Isn't that what a mini drone should be?
I mean it's very close! Close in mini 2 quality too! Also no geofence..... Man competition is FINALLY catching up to mini 2 quality.... and dji has moved on already so much.

I dont see how the quality is “close” also all the fuss about geofencing doesnt make sense… the majority of small drone buyers could care less about faa regulations so its just a matter of time before under 249 is no longer registration free as people start flying this faith mini into small aircraft space.
Its all a matter of the Firmware , eg the not coming back after a circle , rocket , whatever , only a line in the Firmware and the storage of the original GPS coordinates , same with the AI follow me , i have seen in another Video that the drone can do it faster , the C fly mini 2 already got an Flight control and Image Firmware update , the mini 2 is not an old Drone , maybe there will be some more updates in the Future . I ve read that the USB C port on the back of the Drone could be meant for an optional 4G Modul similar to a DJI Mini 3 Pro / Mavic 3 Drone , did you hear sometthing like that ? , i f SG releases such an module it would be a novum Feature for such a cheap Drone

I just bought the Cfly fair min 2 last week.But I found the remote controller not working well.The left joystick couldn't make the drone turn left or even not moving to the left.And it's always on the altitude mode. Could you please help me to solve the problems.Thanks
What annoys me is that these non-dji "cheapo" drones don't have the hyper oppressive geolocking DJI has, which I consider a requirement pretty much, but the software is always a bit wonky and there's no programmability. Like if there was an API I absolutely would buy a drone even if the other features were worse. There's so much good hardware in this, the fimis, et cetera. Being wonky and locked down seems pointless so I don't get why no manufacturer is taking the iniative to improve on it. Like nothing would stop you from animating proper keyframed flight paths in a PC software and uploading it to the drone live through a pc->controller->drone / emulating the required controls through just a modded RC app even if the drone software was locked.
When you buy a consumer drone, you get what you get with all the basic of features. Consumer drones are all marketed towards and made for beginners in the drone hobby. For this reason they all come with a pile of restrictions so that beginners don’t do something stupid as well as no programmability. It’s like spending big bucks on a self driving car that overs the rules of the road and will never go off road or exceed the speed limit.

The fail of follow mode is a deal breaker.
You don't need follow mode if you are a skilled pilot. Take away all auto flight modes on this drone and it's still worth it
I think I would still go for dji mini 2 se. Not much difference in price but I'd pay that for dji support, part availability, etc.

It’s a mini USB port for connecting a 4G network dongle (module) to it, so it basically has the capability of going farther than 5KM

Nope. Drones like this, as well as DJI mini and MAVIC drones, can’t follow RC planes. ONLY an FOV drone can if it is flown in ACRO mode.

I had the cfly faith 2 drone its fly's great and was very stable but the app and transmission distance sucked i had much problems also with gimbal and no firmware updates so i returned it after (3) flights... 2 amazing good flights but then the problems started with the gimbal and overheating electronics and after that third flight it stopped working...

How good this C-Fly Faith Mini 2 could have been if they made the follow-me work? Because that the Atom, Fimi Mini, and Mini 2 SE don't have. And as a bonus a bit of visual tracking.
But nooooooooo! It's still crap. The active-track is even worse! And in both modes you can't use the sticks!!!! That's a recipe for trouble. Bye bye drone.
Such a shame. I'ts pretty nice for all the rest. But useless for a hiker/biker. Isn't that what a mini drone should be?

I dont see how the quality is “close” also all the fuss about geofencing doesnt make sense… the majority of small drone buyers could care less about faa regulations so its just a matter of time before under 249 is no longer registration free as people start flying this faith mini into small aircraft space.

Its all a matter of the Firmware , eg the not coming back after a circle , rocket , whatever , only a line in the Firmware and the storage of the original GPS coordinates , same with the AI follow me , i have seen in another Video that the drone can do it faster , the C fly mini 2 already got an Flight control and Image Firmware update , the mini 2 is not an old Drone , maybe there will be some more updates in the Future . I ve read that the USB C port on the back of the Drone could be meant for an optional 4G Modul similar to a DJI Mini 3 Pro / Mavic 3 Drone , did you hear sometthing like that ? , i f SG releases such an module it would be a novum Feature for such a cheap Drone

I just bought the Cfly fair min 2 last week.But I found the remote controller not working well.The left joystick couldn't make the drone turn left or even not moving to the left.And it's always on the altitude mode. Could you please help me to solve the problems.Thanks
One possibility… you may have accidentally changed the mode of the remote or put it in headless mode. Check the instruction manual.

What annoys me is that these non-dji "cheapo" drones don't have the hyper oppressive geolocking DJI has, which I consider a requirement pretty much, but the software is always a bit wonky and there's no programmability. Like if there was an API I absolutely would buy a drone even if the other features were worse. There's so much good hardware in this, the fimis, et cetera. Being wonky and locked down seems pointless so I don't get why no manufacturer is taking the iniative to improve on it.
Like nothing would stop you from animating proper keyframed flight paths in a PC software and uploading it to the drone live through a pc->controller->drone / emulating the required controls through just a modded RC app even if the drone software was locked.
When you buy a consumer drone, you get what you get with all the basic of features. Consumer drones are all marketed towards and made for beginners in the drone hobby. For this reason they all come with a pile of restrictions so that beginners don’t do something stupid as well as no programmability. It’s like spending big bucks on a self driving car that overs the rules of the road and will never go off road or exceed the speed limit.
