SCP-069 is a presumed humanoid entity of variable appearance and gender. Through an unknown ability, whenever SCP 069 is left alone with a recently deceased human body, the body will disappear and SCP069 will take on the appearance, mannerisms, and knowledge of the recently dead individual.

This is a complex SCP, and what I love about it,
On the one hand, it's a wholesome entity with the potential that gives closure to your loved ones and legacy.
On the other hand, it's horrific knowing that you surviving a near death experience might not actually be you, but an amorphous imposter, and neither you nor the being would be aware of it.
is jus like if your memories got put to a duplicate body, i think its cool.

If a person has the same look, DNA, personality, voice, and memories of the original, then who’s to say they’re not truly that person?
Mostly cuz of the fact when the instance rapidly decays and remanifests somewhere else. If it was a random thing that affects people, it’s not an individual entity but an anomalous effect that can’t be contained. This seems to suggest it is one entity, giving people a second chance, but is still not the original person
This should be one of the scps that are allowed to carry out their tendencies uninterupted

SCP-069 is just an exact copy. It's like an identical twin that has _your_ memories uploaded into its brain like software. _And_ it's not exactly the same personality. You forget the "strong desire to put your life together" aspect of SCP-069's disposition. That's still a difference.

They are complimentary. Someone To Watch Over Me makes sure people don't die alone. And might be in many places at once. And this one takes one job at a time and makes sure people who died can get things in order and be happy when they die. Their families are taken care of and relationships are good. It also acts like the person. Rather than 4999, who is always himself. Hopefully the person they are dying doesn't hurt it.
They're both very kind SCPs. They should never be captured.

This is one of the melancholy SCPs I’ve seen.
Remind of one episode of “Stargate: SG-1” when O’neill was replaced by a Copy and the Copy visit his ex-wife who he haven’t see for a long time since their son’s death.
Though how they manage to prevent SCP-069 from shifting when death occurs on a regular basis in the Foundation?
This SCP is honestly really cool to me. It’s like some sort of supernatural do-gooder. It exists simply to make sure people who die are able to have their final wills and wishes lived out and financial stability given to the grieving families.
If it was taking money from all these people and pooling it into something, I would be worried about it. But this seems like one of the SCPs they should let just vibe.

Because the idea is to protect and contain these SCPs. The SCP can have effects they do not know about in which they need to research and understand. There's many instances of SCPs being harmless but contained, and it's mostly to either understand them, protect the SCP or protect anyone around the SCP.

i honestly think this scp is a good thing. although for many people the idea of having your life lived by an imposter after you died is uncomfortable or upsetting, it’s for the better because it basically IS you. it has all your memories and even seems to develop your personality. it prevents loved ones from grieving over you and will probably make them feel a newfound respect for you by doing so many good things. if i died i would genuinely want this scp to take over.
imagine if scp 069 actually was let itself to do what it needs to do. scp foundation should try to experiment about "what happens if scp069 already finished getting their life in order"

That’s the thing though, the foundation doesn’t care about whether or not it’s a “good” SCP who won’t harm anyone. They are only interested in finding anomalies and containing them.

I think the SCP acts distressed when a family is informed that the original person died because it warns everyone to think the original is alive and not dead
I think it feels as if it failed its mission, and the parents learning that the deceased has died makes their mission irrelevant.

Because of the way that 4999 works, he effectively can’t be contained, but 069 can. If it can be contained, it will be.

SCP does not have a fixed canon, so The Foundation's policies, and nature are inconsistent between authors.
For example, for some authors, the Ethics Committee is a powerless group within The Foundation that is effectively ignored and exists solely for comedic purposes. For other authors the Ethics Committee is actually one of the most powerful entities in The Foundation, working closely with the O5s and are responsible for determining when extreme containment measures are necessary and are also copyright involved in disciplinary matters.
