    I got an Holafly eSIM on a recent month-long trip to Guatemala after seeing it on one of your videos. The data part was awesome, and not having to keep track of SIM cards and top up when it runs out, and the setup was super easy. The only downside was that it was more expensive than a local SIM and (at least in Guatemala) there was no local phone number to make calls, so things like Uber were difficult. I would totally use it again though in countries where there’s a number, and I LOVE the idea of regional eSIMs in Asia, etc. That’s great
    Enjoy Vietnam! I loved it so much. It actually felt like a sister country to Guatemala for me: wonderful food and coffee, mixture of colonial and historical/indigenous, beautiful textiles, great museums and nature, lots of color.

      Great comments here! Completely agree with all of it. We used to get local SIM cards all the time - but since we travel so much, it starts to feel like a major task every time we go somewhere new. In our experience, we’ve had to do a ton of research beforehand to find the best plan, then hope it actually works smoothly once we go through the process. We tried to get one in the Philippines and it was probably the most inconvenient thing I’ve ever dealt with.
      Definitely don’t blame anyone for getting a local SIM card, but to save time and hassle, an eSIM is definitely the way to go.

    Grat video,
    What sucks is that not every phone supports eSim? The new US iphones only supports eSims
    PS
    Do you always keep the other eSims active, or just turn off the ones that you are not using? I noticed that if I keep my primary eSim active along with the one I am using, it drains my battery faster
    Great that you guys are using the Level8 bags
    Cheers

      @EricandSarah  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most new phones do. We turn off every other line in our phone. If roaming is on, you’ll get charged a lot of money. And yes it will drain your battery faster to have two carriers connecting at once.

    • @anneli1735
      @anneli1735 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@EricandSarah…and you need “roaming on” as Holafly eSIM won’t work if “roaming off”. Ask me how I know 😝

      It depends on the region/country! Some allow hotspotting and others don't (it will be listed in the description)

    Just to let you guys know, If you get a phone through T-Mobile and you are paying the value of the phone though their plan, the phone will be blocked and wont allow esims like hola fly. The main requirement is that the cellphone is unblocked and allow both physical and esims.

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good point! In Canada, all phones must come unlocked even if you’re purchasing them on a plan. But all carriers will unlock a phone if you ask them to. Might be different in the states though.

    Got this for my trip to El Salvador and it wasn’t a very good for data usage.
