    I lived in Jamaica in late 60. Built Holiday Inn & Intercontinental Hotels in Rose Hall. Went to Negril many Times. Back then, there was hardly anything there, but just the greatest beach ever and a lot of privacy! I don't think any hotels , maybe a bar...Have always loved Jamaica

    I used to stay at a place called green leaf cabins. Way better than a resort.

    Hitched from Smiths Falls Ontario to Miami in 1974, caught a flight to Montego Bay, then, along with some guys I met at the airport from Wisconsin we shared a cab to Negril . After a night I cannot believe I woke up alive from I met a lady named Rosie. We camped on her property at the cliffs for two months. Shopped the village for essentials, had the pleasure to meet the coolest people one could imagine, enjoyed lobster dinners for a pittance, smoked the best pot, Red Stripe beer is not the best beer, but,.... lounged in a hammock watching the sun set. Walked that beach every day. Might have crossed paths with no more than 15 to 20 people each time, some clothed, some not. Negril, paradise you say... not any more.

    Thank you for this. I have been wondering what the old T-Water property looked like now (alas, it's that huge pile of trash by the Beach House). So sad -- that was a great little hotel. Aside from the Beach House, Coconut International, and Charela Inn (which has grown a lot) I don't recognize a thing there anymore.

      @johnc3601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I clearly remember T-Water. I stayed there several times during the 80's. I see it's been reduced to piles of rubble.

    • @brilliantatbreakfast
      @brilliantatbreakfast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I read that someone bought the property (finally) and something will be built there, but so far no action. We stayed there 5 times in the early 1990s. Loved those beachfront rooms.

    • @johnc3601
      @johnc3601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did they use mini plastic bananas as currency at T-Water when you were there in the 90's? They would clip together to wear around your neck. They did this in the 80's when I was there. They did that to reduce the risk of the employees stealing cash. I don't think it helped because the workers ended up selling them at a steep discount. I miss that place.

      @brilliantatbreakfast 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, that was gone by the time we started going there. I think they gave us wristbands.I know three of the staff from when we used to go there -- Earl (dining room), Lionel (bartender) and Miss Bea (breakfast) have passed away. :-( I heard recently that Jack still has the "Local Motion" boat around there, near Beach House Condos.

    • @johnc3601
      @johnc3601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't quite remember any of those names -Im surprised I at least didn't remember the bartenders name -I spent enough time at the bar -lol.
      Funny you should mention the Beach House Condos. That's exactly where I stayed after T-Water closed down. Not a bad place but prefered ol' T-Water. In the 2000's we would rent a house called Hikaru located on the beach in Treasure Beach. Very quiet in that area. I guess I was looking for that as I get older. I haven't been to Jamaica since 2005 and I definitely have to make some plans one of these days.

      Why?

    • @ashleymarie314poles
      @ashleymarie314poles 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it was just me and my experience, but as an American I was treated horrible. I couldn't even enjoy this beach because every time I turned around someone was trying to hassle me for money. When I was nice enough to purchase homemade products from the locals, they would then ask for more money than originally priced. I also witnessed my drinks being more expensive as I am a white female. The black man next to me, he got the EXACT same drink it was half the price. (Maragaritaville) I learned a lot about their culture when I was there, ya'mon is just a nice way of saying fuck you. The jamaicans also say the word "respect" a LOT which means give me more money.

      @ihatesugar2530 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wow!! I'm sorry all that happened to you. Don't know where exactly you stayed but just know that your experience was in no way the true reflection of Jamaica

    • @syrifilms4630
      @syrifilms4630 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Am sorry u went through that experience. A lot of tourist complain about the same thing. This beautiful land is getting a bad name because of those hustlers. Best way to enjoy Jamaica is rolling with a jamaican. Next time link me up, if u ever reconsider

    • @jamaica1551
      @jamaica1551 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah man and respect doesn’t mean that lol I don’t know who the hell told u that but they do have people who annoy the tourists the police usually try to stop them if they see it
