Craig Jones was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 17 July 1991. In 2006 he began to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) at his cousin's academy and achieved a purple belt.
Once he got his purple belt, Craig moved to Adelaide where he continued his journey at Maromba Academy, which was later renamed Absolute MMA. He devoted countless hours of hard work and dedication to hone in on his technique there. Craig was training under Lachlan Giles.
His hard work paid off in 2014 when he won a gold medal at the NAGA World Championship and a gold medal at the AFBJJ Pan Pacific Championship, an annual tournament held in Melbourne. Craig further proved his skill when he qualified for the 2015 ADCC World Championships - a bi-annual submission grappling tournament often called the "Olympics of grappling".
