Holding down the spool and turning does release backlashes. You just might have to do it 10 to 20 times on a bad one until it releases. But it will. Trust me I’m a pro backlasher. 😂
That was a beast of a back lash, that's why I'm glad I have another rod that I can use, you did same thing I would do deal with it later, it's got be hard to have practice knowing that the weather is going change on you, I guess you just have roll the dice, I like thar curve ball cast you did pretty awesome, & it's great to get all those free gifts!🎣
What Adrian says works if you do it first do not pull first or will not work (backlash)
I Always keep a small crochet hook in the boat to pick out those tough backlashes. $1-2 in any craft store. Saves me time & money.

Bait pop another product like Chum and Rub of back in the 80s. It also had glitter in it. Pretty cool stuff and in different flavors. Shad and crawfish worked the best. Back then it cost $3.99 to today the same stuff cost $15 bucks ridiculous!

That’s our Alabama term for those guys. You can’t beat’’em hardly on that water. I bet DC has half those fish named? Lol…he’s grown up on those mean spotted bass, and knows how to catch them. It’s evident in his winnings on the spotted bass fisheries. But I learned years ago if your fishing Lay, Mitchell, Jordan, Logan Martin then you better be prepared for those guys to come in with 15 to 25lb bags every tournament. The 15lb days everyone else is struggling to get 10. Take them to the Tennessee river and they start sweating. 🤣
