I agree with the wood being used to fix fishing nets. Imagine the fisherman sitting there weaving the bodkin through as he smoked his clay pipe. History in your hands. What a great place to unwind and live. I love your work with the seaweed, it's beautiful. Take care =-)
So glad I found your vlog. As a gardener I’m looking forward to the solstice and being through the shortest day. Also enjoying the seed catalogues arriving by post and email that I can pour over in the dark, blank canvas days of early January. The pressed seaweed is beautiful, recently I was admiring old Swedish herbariums for sale on eBay, which included some seaweeds.
Nice to see you so chipper today. Enjoy your winter celebration ❄️☃️🎄🪵🔥 Lovely to see your new shop/home. Thanks for sharing that museums are feeling the brunt of COVID shutdown and are closing. Really sad. Keep promoting them. Have a Jolly New Year 🎊!!!
@SandraTomey thank you for watching. Yes it's very important to support these small museums, so much local history can be lost very quickly. Have a lovely season ❄️
Hi, I hope you are well. Your channel literally popped up as a suggestion and i thought i'd give you a little watch. I'm so glad i did. There is something very fascinating about you that i feel drawn to. Your videos are an absolute joy to watch. I celebrate the seasons, the wheel of the year, the Pagan festivals, the equinoxes and the like. I feel we may be on the same path. Please do take us along to celebrate the winter solstice. Its crazy to me that its not even Christmas/Yule yet and we'll be celebrating the return of the light again. Time and tide as they say. Blessed Yule to you.
Thanks for video. I just subscribed two weeks ago when I found your channel. I am on the northern coast of Washington in US, with a climate and terrain similar to the Scottish Highlands. Love what I’ve seen of the Orkney and Shetland islands on other videos and looking forward to following your channel.
That was so interesting, we could see one seal as you know 😊 I love beachcombing and am hoping to move to an English tied island next year. I did a seaweed workshop in September which was part of an art festival on that island (Portland), I suprised myself with my drawing of it, must do more. I would rather move to Orkney but I have ties down south so I'm interested in your journey. For Solstice I will be on the Tor. Thanks for sharing.
@Evie3331 I can't decide. Maybe a rudimentary one. I went into the museum to have a look at examples and they are different. I'm still exploring options 🤔
Thank you ❤

👍😎🇨🇦🌱
The wooden thing might be an old bodkin.
@caithnessfamily I'm going to do a little research into people's suggestions, thank you for your idea I'll definitely have a look x
I see them way off in the distance...
Is it a fishing net needle?❤
