Throughout the hills of the Aughwick Creek Valley, spring has reached its final form, bringing the beautiful vibrant wildflowers into bloom as the sun’s rays warm the air. Just in time for this bloom, the East Broad Top has fired up newly restored Baldwin-built 2-8-2 “Mikado” #16 for a special freight run in cooperation with longtime charter host Carl Franz. This event saw the stocky 2-8-2 at the head of a 9 car mixed freight train, representing a consist that may have once ridden the narrow gauge rails through the valley.
