Well... it's definitely complicated, but Earl is in the wrong because when he hurts Amy, it's bad. Where when Amy hurts someone like Sonic, the injuries don't last long, they heal with a hour or so. Plus Earl is abusing Amy while she just goes with a hit and that's it. After all she's in a abusive relationship where she feels like she can't fight back, when she can.
