great job brother! I just want to THANK you for your videos. They are excellent and really easy to follow. I am a professional guitarist and I just love the Santana sound and experience. And the fact that you are doing this and not charging for it is another plus.
    You're the man.

This is the best tutorial in youtube for europa, and for Santana lessons "Shutup & Play - Guitar Tutorials" is simply the best place to look for. This is the way lessons should be explained to me.

      To true!
The bend pitches are perfect, plus the timing's & accent of each individual note as stated by the best guitar tutor I have had the pleasure of encountering across the net.
One does however need to be a fairly accomplished guitarist with a musical ear to digest these high quality track's!
Practice, practice and more practice is all I can say!
      Learn ya scale's

Beautiful played, and my advice to everyone (myself incl) is to listen.. listen... listen..listen to the part before even trying to play it, get it into your head.
Play it then from the heart and put in your emotions.

Great advice! I teach guitar and lead a cover band. We go at a fast pace--always learning new material. It's very clear to me when someone hasn't done their homework on a new song! LOL. Seriously. It starts with listening multiple times. I call it 'burn in'. It's muscle memory for your ears!

Hey Albert, thanks for the nice comment bud. I'm using an Egnater Renegade amp through a Marshall 1960b cabinet. My LP has Suhr Aldrich pickups, and I'm running a TC Electronics Nova System through the loop for delays etc. I also use a BB Preamp and sometimes a Chandler/Butler tubedriver for overdrive stuff. I love your tutorials they get right down to it and are generally on spot. However, 5:21 where’s that lick? I have struggled with that lick everywhere I look and can’t find anyone who explains it properly. It almost seems as if there is some general agreement to gloss over that one slice. Please help if anyone knows where I can find it. edit... ok 1/4 speed I see it.

Well, I have Suhr Aldrich pickups and they have quite a bit less high end than most others so the bridge pickup is pretty smooth.

This is a brilliant lesson. Learning the notes and patterns is one thin but the pedals being used and amp is another setting one needs to learn Can you help here?
I have a Peavey custom 50 Amp, a Sustain compressor pedal, distortion pedal, delay pedal but no synth pedal, any advice would help Santana just speaks through his playing
I want to learn to play his songs bit by bit
Keep up the videos your good to learn from

    • @ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials
      @ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Leslie Cumberland Hey Leslie, I list my gear in the description box of the videos. In general, I would suggest a good tube amp and maybe a boost of some kind. My Nova System is great, but I really only use the delay. I'm not big into pedals. Most of the time these days I just don't use them. You can get a ton of different sounds just using your pickup tone controls and volume. Most of the time a players sound is 80% coming from the hands and the way he plays. Good gear is important, but it's not going to make you any better. Most of the time I practice with NO amp. It's way more about "feel" than it is about equipment. Hope that helps. cheers

This is another great lesson. The only thing is this. I wish you would focus more on what it is rather than what it isn't. Because if I don't know what it isn't. Then I wont get confused. This is the one that slows me down. You even say that this isn't the right way but yet most times you'll give an example of what not to play. Please try not to do that. It just is not necessary. Anyway other than that I really do enjoy your lessons. Thanks for all you do.
