- Howdy! I am Christi from Little Salty Homesteader, and in this video, I am walking through the garden, showing how everything is doing in late June. Some plants are thriving, while others are getting quite wild and chaotic in my North Texas vegetable garden. I have some cleanup and pruning to do, but the garden is still providing!

I have a violet sparkle plant from last spring/summer. I can’t believe it’s still alive 😂. I am not a big fan of the taste. I haven’t had any luck so far with the taste of the peppers I have grown (so far only banana, violet sparkle, purple beauty, and Zulu). They are all beautiful but the taste is not what I was expecting. It probably is something I am doing/not doing. When you spoke about your papa - it was very sweet. I would absolutely do the same and plant in their honor every year.
So many people have installed those shades this year. I’m glad that I have for the most part been spared the heat. You should take a garden spider name poll!

The shade cloth helps immensely. Sometimes I just go stand under it to get some relief if I am out working in the garden.

I have a few things I grow in my Papa’s memory. Sometimes I swear he’s here, making sure I’m growing the okra right 😂
