Coral Bay - Snorkelling with Mantarays & Tiger Sharks!

Coral Bay is one of those places that grows on you. Driving into town, it didn't look like much but after spending some time there, the place got better and better..
Unfortunately the coral in close vacinity to the beach, died recently due to storms that pushed the coral sporn from a recent sporning event back into the bay sucking all oxygen out of the water and killing the existing corals. Fortunately the outer reef was unaffected so a day trip out on a boat was on the cards.
It's not often you get to swim with a 5m+ Tiger Shark but the Mantaray Tour I chose had this on the agenda. We also saw Grey Reef Sharks getting their teeth cleaned on the local cleaning station, turtles, squid and of course, Mantarays cruising amongst the plankton getting thier daily fill. A humpback whale and calf breached next to the boat to top off an amazing day on the Indian Ocean.
Just north of town was Five Fingers Reef. A stunning spot for snorkelling and also popular for 4WDs and Quad Bikes. A unique place where the desert meets the reef.
